December 21, 201213 yr Hi i haven't been on AVSIM much i just came back from Brazil today. How is the weather for flying in North America or Europe ? I see the latest topic is the Airbus X Extending release , so might get it tomorrow . But beside that i haven't seen many topics about VFR flying this month . I guest since it isn't that cold this winter or no heavy winter storm has hit the US this year thanks good. I don't know but i like flying in extreme winter condition with heavy snow an gust winds. It is very challenging for landing , most of the time you have to abort the landing an go around. So hey my fellow simmers out there please share with me some of the latest flight you have done this winter using Real world weather condition . Please describe which weather addon you guys are using as i am currently only using REX Essential + Overdrive . The reason i would like to know which weather addon you are using is because i have seen many post talking about active sky , OPUS, an REXE. I normally just look at the weather channel an see the current weather for some region an try to fly there to see how REXE will simulate the current weather condition in that region . It is not bad at all but as i see here many say OPUS weather engine simulate weather better than any other weather engine. Am not going to compare none of the weather engine . But just please describe the latest flight plan an the real time weather condition you were flying on. I myself is planning to do some flying tonight  . Merry Christmas to ALL an I hope you have very safe an happy NEW YEAR. December 22, 201213 yr Been doing a lot of bush flying in Alaska Same here! Is that the A2A Cub? I've done a lot of Alaska flying lately in the A2A Cub (Merrill Pass is great!) and the DC-3. While I've experienced some snow and some extremely cold temperatures (the Cub's heater won't come on until the oil temperature gets above a certain point, apparently), some occasional high winds, but the only really challenging flight was into Sitka with low visibility and snow with only an ADF for navigation. I'm using AS2012 Beta 3 weather depiction, Smooth Cloud Transitions with wind smoothing courtesy of a registered version of FSUIPC. Not much winter weather yet in Texas. Hook Larry Hookins Oh!
