Cold and Dark

Featured Replies

Hey All, Happy New Year!!

I'm having huge problems with achieving cold and dark in the default C172. Everything is turned off (battery, alternater, all switches, mixture, avionics etc) but the radio and annuciator lights remain on.

I have searched many places, and have tried the following:

1. Change to different aircraft (eg. 737 or Learjet) and turn off APUs, generators, batteries but the same problem occurs in these planes, and the C172 is no different when I change back.

2. Assigned keys for APU, master battery, master generator, master aviaonics and pressed these in the C172. Still no change.

3. I downloaded a dark and cold save file. I started FSX and loaded it. The C172 was cold and dark. Changed paint, still cold and dark, selected airport YSBK and slewed to parking, still cold and dark. But when I changed the time from daytime in 2006 to early morning May 2012, all the radios, annuciators and clock turned on again, even though switches all still off.

I am at a loss at the moment, and any help would be appreciated!

Strange one all i can suggest til another user comes in is to delete your saved file that you have made and try again , changing the time from 2006 to may2012 might have some thing to do with it but cant see how though, dont know why would you change the time from 2006 to 2012?

You could always try Simlauncher (it is in the AVSim library), that let's you set cold & dark, although never tried it with default aircraft......

Try editing the .FLT file (in Notepad) that's created when you save your flight (together with an FSSAVE and WX file). You can change the date in it, you can change the default radio frequencies, you can change a lot of things from true to false and the other way around, in short: you can set everything up by editing that file. I once had an similar problem where a plane didn't want to be saved completely cold and dark and simply editing the .FLT file solved it.

You said one file worked for you until you changed the date: try editing that specific file (only change the date) and see if that works.
