January 1, 201313 yr It entirely depends on which orbx scenery you have. Orbx makes very detailed sceneries with a lot of texture calls and dense autogen. basically with their regions, if you are in rural territory there is no trouble whatsoever. Regions in Australia and North America's textures were created with the older autogen tree technologies that they used, and are less frame rate friendly than the newer regions in New Zealand and England (which run amazingly fast BTW) NA around Seattle can lag (my old Q6600 ran it 6-10 fps, new i7 runs 15-22 fps) and Aus cities such as Melbourne can as well. but these areas are difficult in default FSX too. As far as airports go, they tend to vary, the big Australian internationals have a reputation of being frame rate hogs, but As I never bought any of them, I can't comment first hand. the smaller airports in PNJ are very good on frames, as are some of the PNW strips, some are not as friendly. None of the orbx stuff hits my rig as hard as some of the Aerosoft scenery though ORBX puts an emphasis on performance an most airports have options that can be deactivated if frames are bad. My overall opinion? the visual improvement FAR outweighs the frame rate loss. try one of their demo regions (Tasmania or Washington State's Olympic Peninsula) that should give you a pretty good idea
January 1, 201313 yr Author i was looking ast the england orbx, my computer aint the best by a long shot but going to be upgradeing things again soon ( one hopes ) i fly out of manchester ( Egcc ) as its close to where i live in the RW... thanks for your quick reply Craig
January 2, 201313 yr actually England is my next purchase as well. it uses the new Optimized Autogen they started with NZ and I'm told that its very smooth in comparison to to other areas. other users on the orbx forums haven't reported too many issues with frames. probably runs worse than photoscenery though, cause of all the objects, but I'm no fan of photoscenery personally.
