TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT

Featured Replies

What exactly is TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT in the FS9 CFG file. I imagine it can be adjusted dependent upon memory configurations. I would like to know what would be the optimal setting. Any ideas?

FS 2004 tips and trick:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...sg_id=230&page=When I am switching view, I get coloring popping texture (brown, red etc.) how can I fix that's ? Fs9.cfg under: (DISPLAY)TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40 <------------ to a higher value ex:100, 200, 300, 400 etc. This setting controls the rate at which textures get transferred to the video hardware. Higher numbers will result in the textures getting to the hardware faster and avoiding "popping" textures when switching view but may increase stutters and require more physical memory on the video card (and some more, not recommended for video card with less than 128Mb). Thanks for Resp.I have 1g of ddr550 memory and ATI x800 XT Platinum Edition card. What should I set this thing for or do I keep trying until I get too old and forget what I am doing this for.

Test it yourself (each system is different).Try 400 and see if you get stutters (you will notice them most when panning in VC), if you do lower the settings to 300 and so on.I have mine set at 400.XP Home SP1Asus P4P800-SE Intel 3.0GHZDDR 400 D/C 2x512MBGeForce FX 5700 256MB (56.72)SB AudigyMSFF2 & X45 throttleSee you in the fence...CYYZ

Thanks againI've tried 400. What I was trying to do was decrease the delay when in external view of my A/C. I've noticed that most (but not always) when I switch to external I have to wait on the textures of my A/C to reload - not a long time maybe a second or two. This is what I'm trying to fix. I'm using ABIT IC7-MAX3 MB, Corsairs TWIN PC4400 Memory, Intel P4 3.4 EE, and ATI x800 XT card,It was interesting that I saw CYYZ in your post because I just flew there on my simulator a couple of hours ago from KMIA (Miami, FL) where I live. I've had CYYZ from Simflyers since it came out but had never flown a flight there until this evening. The first thing I saw after landing was an airport full of Canada Air aircraft and one KLM 747. Nice airport.Anyway thanksW BrownMiami

Maybe grab a cessna and take a short 5 min flight from CYYZ to CYTZ. I fly out of Miami all the time in Bill Lyon's Grumman Goose, towards the keys and Cuba (MSFS of course). Setting framerates to unlimited, my roomates 3.2 p4 won't run smooth with any number other than 30-50. I use to try real high numbers but realized it caused most of the stuttering

I have a pretty similiar setup, and from what I've noticed, theres no way to get rid of any delay when flying with lots of traffic and a detailed airplane. Microsoft just didn't write the game correctly for top of the line computers, otherwise I wouldn't be struggling with a similar setup trying to get the game to run smooth every single day (and with the latest virtual memory error crashing it makes it even more fun!)

Hi V brown, "when I switch to external I have to wait on the textures of my A/C to reload "Aircraft or AI aircraft should use DXT texture format , if 3rd party use higher texture format 565 or 32 bits, this waiting texture will appears, there some aircraft that's use 32bits which is way too much and this will cause issue, (comparaison of 10mb vs 1 mb) Ms should have block this format to DXT for aircraft in fs2004 and get rid of many external problems. Also your AGP aperture in your BIOS should be set at 64MBThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

Hi Chris,I couldn't agree more the 32 bits big textues for some addon planes are total framerate killers. Even in VC mode you have big problems if you look out of the side window and your PC must load one of those 10 MByte wing textures.I personal reduce all textures to DXT format, this gives nearly the same quality and improve the speed.Maybe MS use DXT in the next version for the whole thing?
