Curious what everyone is using to record video in FSX when using Directx10? I have Fraps 3.x and it seems that both screen shots and video do not work if you are running in Directx10 mode.

 

Anyone else ran into this?

Fraps 3.5.9 here, on Windows 7 - 64-bit, tstl - both screenshots and movie creation work just fine for me.

Strange.. on my windows 7 x64 partition it still works even with dx10 enabled.. on Windows 8 x64 no joy.. i have the same version of fraps as you do too.

 

It seems, at least so far, it is a windows 8 issue. Only other thing i can think of is UAC related maybe.. in win 7 i dont have uac enabled but I do with windows 8.

 

update: I believe maybe an FSX setting is causing the glitch.. as if i use Media Player and play a video for instance, i can capture screens and video of the video..

 

EDIT: testing with the fsx.cfg from the win 7 partition didnt help.. still a black screen for a capture with fraps under windows 8 and fraps with dx10 (but not in other apps and other games).

 

Update: Turning UAC off didnt help either.. this is rather strange considering it seems to work with other directx10 games (Batman AC, ME3 etc)

If anyone can modify the title of this thread ... I think it should be:

This has been shown at least with me, to be an 8 issue

The good news is that DxTory v2.x is working under Windows 8. So I guess for Windows 8 we have to wait for a fraps update to make it work there.
