LatinVFR TXKF elevation issues

Featured Replies

I have been to their site already but it seems pretty dead around there.

I can't possibly be the only person with this problem..

My post over there and the link to the LVFR forum below

"Hello, seems I have an issue with the elevation at TXKF. Looks great on appraoch bu the hills pop thru once I get closer to the ground.

I do not have any other scenery or AFCADS for the area"

That picture reminds me of a problem I've had at Aerosoft's Lukla, where the actual FSX runway wouldn't display either. Instead I had a huge hill in that place. When I read the manual, I learned that this is an issue that could be solved by adjusting some scenery settings (I think it was mesh complexity). Maybe that's the problem with this scenery, too?

Could be, might have to try that...(but you would think the developer would tell me the proper settings? Wouldn't he?)

BTW Flo, I shot this a while back ;)(I have many of her coming and going from CYYZ)

I guess you're right here, they should know that, if it is a limitation of the scenery, and they would probably tell you (at least when you asked for support).

Cool shot of "me", thanks for sharing it!

If you have UTX Tropical American and Caribbean installed take a stab at disabling TXKF - that has helped me in other areas where I installed LatinVFR airports.

I do not have UTX.

You have checked how your scenery is layered? Using FSX scenery config or an outboard utility like SCM 2004?

I might try putting it right on the top for testing purposes. Something must be messing with it as I don't have anything even close to TXKF in my scenery (I tried scan afcad as well with no wayward AFCAD for TXKF showing up).

The only scenery I have that is remotely close to TXKF is Mega Scenery Earth New York (the original verison) and that is 600NM away from TXKF.

I'm pretty anal about my scenery.cfg and layering so it's not like I get sloppy and let things slide and go where they go by default.

Al Stiff

Other than what you are thinking of -

and overwriting the scenery.cfg dupe file in the main FSX folder and app data/roaming FSX folder -

with the scenery.cfg from the Program Data/FSX folder,

I am out of Schlitz.

Still recommend downloading and using SCM 2004 for scenery layering if you are not using it. Although written for FS9, it adapts nicely to FSX.

I just flew into Bermuda yesterday and had the same problem. Here's what I did.

Navigate to Scenery/0302/APX30200.bgl and deactivate it, APX30200.off works as you know.

After I shut the default airport off everything worked grand. How this helps somewhat.

Thanks gents for all the help.

Just fired up FSX and placed TXKF on top of my North American Scenery's,

TA DA! Fixed...

S0, with that, something in NA is messing with it....

Now, seeing as I am anal, should I move it back where I want it (I had it below my North American Scenery) and try Geddy's fix? Or just leave it?

BTW Geddy. How did you know APX30200 was for TXKF? If there a place where we can learn where what file names are for what area?

Al Stiff

I use Airport Facilitator X (fancy version of AFCAD). For all the sceneries I have conflicts with I just search the default scenery list the properties and find out where it is. Haven't had any problems as of yet.
