I have a question regarding the b200 and reality xp 430 compatibility. Even though the default aircraft comes with dual 530's, I'd like to be able to use the gns430 from reality xp because it is the only one I own. At $50/unit, I'd rather stick to using the 430 instead. I wasn't going to buy it at all because of that, but the b200 is my favorite aircraft and the aeroworx is showing its age.

Is this an easy mod, or is it too complicated - or even impossible?

Hi Drew,

I think it can be done the way like it will install the GNS 530 (didn´t really try it !!!), BUT the proportions will be WAY out of acceptance ... I guess ugly to look at in vc if it is strechted far too far in hight and the knobs will also not match the GNS vc knobs, as you have to strech the gauge to fit it in the VC-GNS530-frame!!! I really wouldn´t recommend to implement the GNS 430, better stick with the default Carenado GPS then.

If you wanna mod it that way indeed I would then try to install the RXP model-converter provided by the Carenado-installer and exchange the lines in the panel.cfg containing rxp530-"gauge" to the rxp430-"gauge" ... But as said before, I did NOT try that myself and cannot promise if it will work at all and if it will satisfy you ... it is all up to you!

Cheers!

hmm, thanks Andy

I may even try and merge it with the entire center panel of the c90 including the com/nav gauges. That may take a while, but it might look cool.

Drew,

It was a while before I broke loose and added the RXP530, then almost a year before I succumbed for the Unlimited Pack. I have to say I wonder why I waited for both. If you own both the 430 and 530 you can install each in the same panel if the A/C model accommodates it, You can put the 430 where it is accommodated and the 530 where it is accommodated. With the unlimited pack you get a second 430 and a second 530, which allows you to put two of either into an applicable panel. With two of any combination installed in a panel you can dial up different functions on each. So you can look at the NAV map on one and the flight plan listing on the other, etc. With two installed they feed each other, so you can store up to 19 flight plans on one and up to 19 on the other. When you activate a flight plan on one it activates it on the other, despite the fact that specific plan might only reside on the unit you activated it on. The first unit can be profiled with NAV1 and COM1 while the second unit is profiled with NAV2 and COM2. i.e in the panel you can eliminate the typical Bendix nav radios. With the unlimited pack you can also crossfeed flight plans from say 430(1) to 430(2) or from 430(1) to 530(1) so you can get the flight plan from one aircraft model that has only the 430(1) to a different aircraft that has only a 530. It just adds phenomenal flexibility.
