January 10, 201313 yr I have an anomaly with a repaint that I need some help with. This is the Milviz Cessna 310R. I replaced the gold stripes with gray in PS CS5 with the color replacement tool, pasted over the tail numbers from a blank texture, and added my own custom tail number. Used DXTBmp to transfer the textures to and from PS. I have done a score of repaints like this and never experienced this before. This is obviously from the aircraft selection screen off the FSX opening screen, but I get a much less pronounced effect like this at some angles in chase plane view. Anyone able to ID what may be causing this and how to correct? January 15, 201313 yr I am not sure what is causing it. You should be able to pin down which texture is causing it swapping them out one at a time with textures from another livery that does not display the problem. Have you tried contacting Milviz? regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
January 15, 201313 yr Author Have you tried contacting Milviz? Not likely their problem. It's due to my repaint I believe. I've looked at the textures again and don't see the issue in DXTBmp or in Photoshop. I like your idea to swap each texture file out one at a time. Will try that to find the culprit. January 15, 201313 yr Author Not likely their problem. Hummm !!! I followed your excellent suggestion and swapped out my repaint texture files for originals, one-by-one and that strange phenom didn't go away. So I reinstalled the model from scratch and checked. It did the same thing on the preview screen. It may then be MilViz issue. I would think someone else would have brought it up. January 15, 201313 yr So you are saying that you see this now with default textures? Start with a default texture folder that does not display this artifact and try adding in your textures one at a time. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
January 15, 201313 yr Author Yes. I looked at five different textures and they all did the same. I have no other aircraft that show this artifact. I loaded the C310 and it was there as it has been. It does not appear until the plane rotates until the trailing edge of the left wing gets perpendicular to screen. It this shows as you can see in the photo until the plane rotates to the opposite wing. It goes away until the plane rotates back around. If left to rotate several time the artifact disappears but the plane's texture turns to blank gray. Now, today the artifacts went away. That happened when I went from the opening screen Current Aircraft page to the Current Weather page, and returned. The artifacts were gone. Same thing happens if I restart FSX and go from the Current Aircraft page to the Current Location screen, then return. that screen to another and then come back the artifacts are gone. After several rotations the texture turns blank gray and the rotation slows to a crawl. Going to a different page and returning puts it back to the painted textue, until the same thing repeats after several rotations again. Really strange.
