How to rebuild SimObjects?

Featured Replies

I am NOT very familiar with modifying FSX files. How can I get it to rebuild my SimObjects (preferably aircraft only) after a minor change to one of my aircraft? On my other computer which I also run FSX I use FSPS Extreme and there is a button to select to rebuild SimObjects. I don't want to pay for another version of that program and I have searched and searched the forums and can not seem to find an answer. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide me.

What do you mean rebuild Simobjects? Do you mean you want to replace the default AC? If so, they are probably on one of the installation disks in a .CAB file. Sorry I don't know which!

Thanks

A "repair" install will fix the default aircraft, but no add-ons.

I tend to use that option as a last resort, (Well next to last resort, last resort would be a full re-installation!) since we generally operate with a heavily modified (Addons) installation. For example if the repair function use a checksum on the files to see what needs repairing, will it overwrite all your addon replacement texture files like GEX, REX, UT, etc. back to default! It could be a mess putting things back together, if that happened.

Thanks

Thanks for that information. I "might" try a "repair" install. I appreciate the information!

If the other computer has a basic, or the same, FSX install, you can copy that Simbjects folder over this one. That would not do any damage to the rest of FSX, as Tom said. It would only add any objects on the "other" computer. The best is to only copy the aircraft that are "messed up".

GREAT idea, (I should have thought of it!), I will do just that.
