August 13, 200421 yr Hi, guys, When using a more complex aircraft (such as the IFDG A319 or Posky 757) at one the Simflyers airports, I go to spot view, and either immediately or after a moment, after all the aircraft textures have loaded, the scenery textures re-draw themselves...but with less than half the detail! When I zoom out in top-down view, I also notice that ALL the city textures surrounding the airports have become blurry as well. This only seems to happen at simflyers airports. Is there any setting I can tweak to keep this from happening? It really keeps me from enjoying otherwise great work, and my computer should be fast enough to handle it...aside from that, I've tried messing with my autogen settings, texture size, fs9.cfg terrain settings, etc...Here are the relevant specs: P4 2.8 GHz 1 GB DDR PC3200 RAM Radeon Pro 9600 Thanks much! If anybody's had this problem, please let me know... Mike Tucson, AZ"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"--Mahatma Gandhi
August 13, 200421 yr Sliders?Try everything to the right and see if that makes any difference.Just a suggestion and in the event that you have already tried that, just ignore me.Good Luck:RTH
August 13, 200421 yr Thanks! To the right? I'll give it a try..Mike Tucson, AZ"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"--Mahatma Gandhi
August 13, 200421 yr Author Simflyers scenery is quite resource hungry so I suspect your 9600 may be getting bogged down - you don't say how much memory is on the card.If you move the scenery complexity slider to the left then you will lose the airbridges but gain some FPS and may get the textures back.If the suggestions in the other post don't help try changing your AGP apature setting in the BIOS and try AGP acceleration both on and off, with luck you will find the sweet spot. You could also remove the static aircraft which will help.I would like Simflyers to develope an option to remove a percentage of the statics, say 25, 50, 75% rather than all or nothing.Best of luck.
August 13, 200421 yr Thanks, Vulcan,Will try that...Mike Tucson, AZ"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"--Mahatma Gandhi
August 13, 200421 yr Simflyers has the worst scenery performance around... Like others have said it's most likely your video card... The bad news is no one makes a card that has more than 256 megs of ram in it. Even with my setup, Simflyer's scenery is terrible on framerates (KDFW being the worst and KIAH is close second)... Simflyers is currently upgrading all their scenery add-ons but performance of the newer version has been reported to be not that much better than the older versions. KPHX is their best offering. These guys really need to learn GMAX...The performance your getting is normal and comparable to the rest of us. I actually don't know why others are trying to give you advice on your hardware. As long as you have FS2k4 running pretty well your fine.... August 13, 200421 yr Ok, thanks Dillon, was wondering if it was just me... ;-)Mike Tucson, AZ"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"--Mahatma Gandhi
August 13, 200421 yr Author Despite my advice Mike Dillon is right, their scenery can bring a system to its knees.I fly mainly Europe and the worst one for me is Frankfurt, especially if it has the usual European weather :-)
