Scenery question

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Do you know why I keep getting the "Building scenery database" bar loading everytime I start the sim when I haven't installed new scenery?

Also after owning Flightzone 02 Portland for quite a while, I broke down and bought flightzone 01 Rhode Island. Something about the install for 01 seems a little off.

The scenery looks and runs okay but after I installed, it created a single entry "Flightzone 01". After shutting the sim down and starting it again it created another entry like this:

flightzone01.jpg

Also the scenery config looks a bit wonky:

[Area.180]

Title=FlightZone01 LandClass

Local=Addon Scenery\FlightZone01_LC

Remote=

Active=True

Required=False

Layer=180

[Area.]

Title=FlightZone01

Local=Addon Scenery\FlightZone01_SC

Remote=

Active=True

Required=False

Layer=181

[Area.000]

Title=FlightZone01

Local=Addon Scenery\FlightZone01_SC

Remote=

Active=TRUE

Required=FALSE

Layer=178

Now 02 Portland has separate SC and LC entries and lists them as so. At first I just thought I'd reinstall after deleting from the scenery library. When you try to delete the scenery areas for Flightzone 01, it will still show up in the library and only through manually deleting them from all scenery configs in the main FS9 folder can you get rid of it.

I've never seen an installation quite like this. I bought 02 from Simmarket and 01 from Flight1 but that shouldn't really have anything to do with it.

I'm wondering if I should just set it to install to a blank directory and just install it to FS9 manually.

Anyone seen anything like this?

I would recommend you do the following...

Go to your FS9 folder and move oldscenery.cfg and (if it exists) newscenery,cfg to your desktop.

Remove any and all entries for FZ01 and FZ02 from your scenery.cfg.

Start the sim, let it settle, then shut it down.

Restart the sim and add the 2 FZ sceneries back keeping in mind that the LC entries should be below the SC entries in the Scenery Library.

Shut the sim down, restart it and check out the 2 sceneries and verify they are working.

If everything goes OK and the sim looks good you can then delete the 2 files on your desktop.

Post back with your results.

THANK YOU!!!!Big%20Grin.gif

Much appreciated Joe! The scenery cfg. now looks normal as well. Can't always trust auto-installers.

Cheers,

Pete
