Eric Lunston's FS Mud locked thread.

Featured Replies

The decision to lock the FS Mud thread seemed a bit harsh to me. I thought it was just a bit of healthy satire?! I have to admit, I laughed as I read it and was just about to post an equally satirical response when I scrolled down and saw the lock!Just my humble thoughts.

I liked it, and thought it was funny, if a little ill-conceived.It was a backhanded stab at certain vendors with what I believe is a good reputation, and I'm sure that's why it was locked. Andrew

I agree with you. It was a post just to make people laugh. People here at AVSIM just need to lighten up a bit. I've lurked here for years and did some freeware as well but pulled it off of AVSIM a couple of years ago because of issues like what happened here. This person just tried to make us laugh and what happened AVSIM bans him. These forums you have to sugar coat and put lots of smileys in your posts because if not then yo get flamed, ridiculed or banned. People please lighten up and TOM if you read this you should reconsider Eric's ban. It could be yet another contributor to our hobby that you drove away.

From what I've read, there's more to it than one humorous post.

One thing to consider is that humor, and particularly satirical humor, does not always "translate" well. What may be intended as "poking a little fun" to a US native may seem to be ridiculing someone to even a UK citizen, let alone non-English speaking forum members. Smilies are universal but on the whole, humor can be easily mistaken. R-
