De-ice not working for me anynore

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I used to follow the steps in the manual and get my de-ice procedures going without problems, but now they won't work, and I cannot figure out why. I simply cannot get it started, no matter what I try. I do have the latest voice control version installed.

Is anyone else experiencing this or can anyone give me some guidance please?

Kind regards

Bryan,

I have gone through the manuals and I have carefully gone through all the steps, but I cannot get the de-icing guys to talk to me at all! I cannot figure out for the life of me where it is going wrong. I have tried to install FSX from scratch and the NGX and the FS2Crew package, but no dice. Any other ideas?

Kind regards

Bryan,

Thanks for the patience! Here is what I do: I would switch the interphone switch on, go to the captain's comm panel, select the SVC option and push the SKR breaker to engage the speaker. I don't bother with the overhead comm's or the co-pilot's comms at all. I then switch the comm frequency to 121.65, and try to talk to the de-ice crew, and nothing.

I have tried it with the service interphone switch off as well, with just the service interphone switched on, same result. The phrase "cockpit to de-ice coordinator" doesn't register in the fs2crew vocabulary and if I simply speak "requesting de-icing" and "zulu time", I am met with deathly silence.

I have tried it every possible way I can think of, but I cannot get it to work. The difficult part is that I cannot remember exactly what I did earlier since it was about a year ago I last needed to use de-icing!

Kind regards

The mode never leaves "PRE-FLIGHT" when I try to talk to the ground crew. Even when I wait until the we are close to starting the engines and I then try to contact the de-icing guys, they ignore me. The co-pilot carries out all the correct procedures and checks for the de-icing, but that is about it.

I know that it has to switch to "DE-ICING IN PROGRESS" and I remember that the de-icing crew will tell you the mix they are going to use etc, but none of that happens here. I am not too sure if there is a specific time period when I have to initiate the process, apart from the fact that it has to be not less than 15 mins prior to engine start.

Bryan,

Just a quick question here - what phraseology would you use to activate the crew de-icing the aircraft? Do you start off with "Deice coordinator it is...."

Thanks!
