January 20, 201313 yr I have a question about frame rates in the PMDG 737NGX. My current system running everything on ultra high seems to be choking up between 22 and 11fps in the virtual cockpit. If I lower all of the sliders to Minimal I only see an FPS increase of about +10. Any thoughts on my system specs and whether this is normal? P.S. I have All AI Traffic Disabled. System specs as follows: CPU: AMD FX-8350 Overclocked to 4.7gb RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengence PC1600 VID: NVIDIA GTX670 2gb OS: Win 7 Ultimate 64Bit James
January 20, 201313 yr Yes that is normal. AMD processors are decent but are no match for the Intel side of things when it comes to FSX, unfortunately. FSX craves very powerful floating point power which the AMDs lack. You can try running the 737NGX Performance utility (check your Start menu) and set the options to low resolution. That should pick up quite a few frames for you. Also, you can (using the FMS in the cockpit) turn off the co-pilot displays which really helps performance too.
January 20, 201313 yr Do any other aircraft give you low framerates, or only the NGX? Also, have you tried Word Not Allowed's guide or Bojote's automated tweaking tool? Regards, PD
January 20, 201313 yr I would try upgrading the RAM some more. If it is still giving you trouble, try tweaking the fsx.cfg file a little bit. You can send me a pm if you need any more help. Happy Landings,Gareth Scott (GCS)

At 8Gb I really don't think he needs to throw more RAM at it !! I would probably try the tweak tool and see if that gives you any boost.. .. http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
