January 21, 201313 yr I have a windows 64 bit vista operating system that keeps app hanging during flight. i currently have fsx with both service packs 1 and 2 installed and updated drivers and graphics card. Below will be my error messages hoping its something simple. I have REX and IFLY 737 and FS PASSENGER installed also. Description A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. January 21, 201313 yr AppHangs are hard to diagnose. Please download and run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html and copy and paste the error report here. I need to see what modules were loaded. Since you have a borderline system running FSX (a notebook) it could be that the program simply ran out room to load textures, gauges, aircraft, etc. If you sliders are set too high you might look at returning the settings under your Scenery tab to default and on the Traffic Tab, reset those settings all to default. Then run FSX again and see if the problem still occurs. If not, it is most likely the settings you had. FSX uses up to 4 GB of memory on 64 bit systems but, if you only have 4 GB, it has to use some of that 4GB for running your laptop. This is why you cannot have high settings with your system. If you can afford to get 4 more GB's of RAM, that would help but not sure your laptop can take more. You can also try uninstalling SP2, run FSX, then reinstall SP2. This has fixed the problem for some. Did you install the SDK and Simconnect correctly? (Install the SDK from the FSX Deluxe disk, then open up the SDK folder and run the simconnect.msi, run FSX, download and install SDK SP1a, go to the SDK folder and run the simconnect.msi, run FSX, then download the SP2 SDK, go to the Simconnect folder and run the simconnect.msi, then run FSX). I have seen hangs where simconnect has problems updating weather information from the Internet, can't do it so FSX crashes. You should receive a network crash report if this happens though but just wanted to make sure all bases are covered. Hope this helps some! January 21, 201313 yr Here is what you requested have re installed sp2 multiple times There should have been some modules loaded information below the crash report. The information you provided really says little and is of no value to me. That's why I like the AppCrashView as it is able to read the Microsoft error reports and provide more detailed information about your crash. Did you also try resetting the Scenery and Traffic tabs to default? Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! January 21, 201313 yr Author Which app crash view? And yes I have lowered my settings back to default still doing It I downloaded app crash view and posted it for you it was my second post ?
January 21, 201313 yr I see you are on a notebook, may want too look into possible overheating issues if this happens after you've been flying awhile.
January 21, 201313 yr Author I have tried all of these instructions and purchased a fan even re installed everything, and still nothing is really working. any other suggestions
January 22, 201313 yr I downloaded app crash view and posted it for you it was my second post ? As I stated above, the AppCrashView usually provides more info. If you scroll down in the lower pane you'll should see Modules loaded. There are so many possibilities for this type of crash. There is no magic bullet that someone here can give you that will fix your problem. You will have to help us investigate it. A 2 GHz system barely meets the minimum specs for FSX/Acceleration and REX so I think your system just cannot handle REX, iFly, and/or FS Passengers - http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/18097-minimum-recommended-system-specs-for-rex-essential/. As you can see by the comments, you may have issues running REX on your system if you have settings set too high. You can fly with the basic setup but with no addons. Make sure you have Microsoft.net 2.0 installed. It is definitely required for REX and maybe for iFly and FS Passengers. You can find the versions installed by looking in Windows/Microsoft.net/Framework/x86 folder. You should also have Microsoft.net 1.1, 3.5, and 4.0 and 4.5 installed too. This link might help - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx. I agree with VeryBumpy too regarding possible overheating. FSX puts a lot of resources on the CPU. More so than the GPU. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
