January 21, 201313 yr Hello, I have this strange scenery problem! The scenery is FSX and do not use DX10 Have no problem with other airports! The two airport with the problem are FMEE and FMCZ both nearby Madagascar!! The scenery is the reunion airport FMEE Roland Garros. If I takeoff at this airport and the scenery is no problem. When I fly over the airfield the appron and runways start to flicker!! And Dzaoudzi Pamandzi International Airport (FMCZ) is the same problem. I want to install ad/on scenery for this but the flickering stay's!! A while ago I had Ground Environment X Africa-Middle East installed but toke it off!!Ground Environment X Africa and the Middle-East Could it be something went wrong and that a part of the scenery files are corrupt?? I have a backup of my scenery and file 10,2 gig but i installed so many ad/ons and only want to replace it for this part!! Can somebody tell me witch part to replace for this scenery???? Kind regards Robert At this moment I am not able to upload a picture, do this later!!
January 21, 201313 yr FYI, I did not see any flickering at these two airports (default) but I use DX10. A Google search revealed nothing on DX9 airport textures flickering. Only DX10 issues (which are now fixed). If you have an addon airport, you should e-mail the developer to see if he has a fix. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! January 22, 201313 yr Author Hello Jim, I do not know if flickering is the right word? Maybe you call it shimmering? Can I try to replace the map Africa in scenery map?? What else can I try to replace?? I think my deinstallation Ground Environment X Africa-Middle East could be the problem! Maybe something went wrong there! I shall upload the picture! Kind regards Robert For some reason I can not upload a small picture!
January 22, 201313 yr Author Tried another Display driver with no luck! PLEASE: :help: Is there anybody who is willing to startup a free flight / Country Reunion / Airport Gillot FMEE St Denis / Active Runway / Aircraft Trike Ultralight and takeoff and at about 800 feet look at Apron and runways to see if this looks alright !!!! Use Dx9 not Dx10 So I know this problem is only happening to me. Thanks Robert
January 23, 201313 yr Author Betcha it's this. You have two options - one is to turn down the mesh detail in your settings until the problem goes away. The second and more involved (but not really difficult) method is to download Airport Design Editor and place a flatten polygon under the airport so the terrain doesn't ever poke up above it and cause the textures to disappear! Thank you for helping me! Lowering every settings in FSX did not do anything!! So I think I need to try the second option! Can you tell me more about Airport Design Editor?? Do I need to run this with every flight I make to the problem airtport?? I already replaced the Scenery map and Texeture map from my backup but it is not working!! Please can yoiu try this airport to see if this problem is happening in your FSX?? Again thanks!! Kind regards Robert
January 23, 201313 yr I went and looked at both airports and see no problems. I have no add-ons for either, nor anything for the area. The pictures of FMEE show that the default airport flatten has gone MIA. And that's not something affected by mesh or mesh settings. The airport area should be at 66 feet and the best way to check would be to take the default Cessna 172 and "drive" around the grassy area. When using Shift-Z to display location and FPS info the elevation should read at 69.6 feet. For FMCZ, checking the elevation (default is 23 feet) the displayed elevation should read 26.6 feet. No bouncing around should occur at 20-30kts. If the elevation does not show as above, then something has affected the default flatten.
January 24, 201313 yr Author Thank you for trying it out! I shall try this later today! I never heard of flatten and how could it have changed?? Can I repair this if not correct? Robert

Hello, Here is my report back: Used default Cessna 172 and driven around the grassy area at FMEE at a speed between 20-30 knots and the elevation was bouncing between 69,6 and 96,9 !! at FMCZ at a speed between 20-30 knots and the elevation was bouncing between 26.6 and 26.8 !! So not the number you gave !! Where can I see or look for the default elevation numbers FSX ?? I just remember I use the DynamicFriction.lua Could this affect something ?? And can you tell me what to do now ?? Robert
January 24, 201313 yr Ground Environment X only replaces the default textures with optimized textures that perform better than the default textures. It has nothing to do with elevation or scenery as it is not placed in the Scenery Library. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! January 24, 201313 yr Author Are you using Ground Environment X? Yes, but I replaced the whole scenery map and texeture map with a backup I made several years ago after installing FSX and that did not change anything! Problem remains! I hope meshman or Gaiiden can help me!! Robert
January 24, 201313 yr Problem remains! I hope meshman or Gaiiden can help me!! For the record, I do not help via the Private Message system. Standard course of action would be to start turning things off in your scenery library. Turn off everything that is not a default entry and go check the fields. If the problem is gone, add a certain amount of the additional (non-default) entries back in, go check, continue until things get messed up. This gets you to a general area of which add on is the culprit and allows you to isolate it in (hopefully) the least amount of time. I bought an add on for three airports around the globe. Some people were having problems in Africa, just out of the blue. Turned out the developer of the product messed up an exclusion for an airport in North Carolina, USA and it affected airports all the way to the equator and prime meridian. Stuff happens, some times. Hopefully it will be a quick process to cull through your scenery layers and find the offending file(s).
