August 15, 200421 yr Hello everyone!I just finished installing FS2004 and was hoping to fly straightaway but the system reboots just as the scenery finishes loading. It doesn't matter what flight I select or if I create my own. Any ideas as to why this is happening?Regards, Jon

August 16, 200421 yr Author Check that Render To Textures is ticked. I have just switched to an ATI card and were getting reboots because of this. Might help.
August 18, 200421 yr In all the excitement I forgot to enter my system details. They are: Windows XP Home P4 1.8 ghz 512mb ram Asus Ti4200 vid cardI thought I would just uninstall the sim and reinstall it but the uninstall function doesn't even work! I'm at a loss as t why this is happening. I read a previous posting regarding a registry error message but I didn't even see such a thing on my screen. The scenery is almost done loading and the thing shuts off then restarts.Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.Cheers, Jon
August 18, 200421 yr Sounds like you might be getting a blue screen of death.Windows on default settings reboots the computer without even showing the BSOD, at least with FS9.So, do this to see whether it's caused by BSOD:Go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> startup & recovery | settings -> uncheck "automatically restart"
August 18, 200421 yr "Go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> startup & recovery | settings -> uncheck "automatically restart""If this doesn't work - you could try.......1: deleting/renaming the FS9.cfg file (C:/Docs and settings/(your name)/ Application data/Microsoft/FS9) - just rename it something else(oldFS9.cfg or whatever) and then start FS9 and see if it helps.if not then you could..........2:uninstall manually then try a reinstall.Dave
August 18, 200421 yr I had this happen to me. Did everything to fix it but no luck.It was a clean install with no added scenery or anything else. First I blew all the dust out of my computer. Next I made sure everything was up to date (drivers Bio's). Next I made sure the power supply could handle the load I was placing on the computer. I did all this and still it would reboot. It would even reboot when I unchecked the automatic start box as stated in a previous post above. Next I looked into any heating issues. Correct fans, all working etc. Sadly, it still rebooted. Finally, I purchased a new video card and I was back in business. Seems my old 4200 TI could not handle the load or a part within it had failed. Try another card and see if this cures your problem.RegardsEd
August 18, 200421 yr Not another card, just updated drivers. The 4200 is still well up to the job mechanically. Use the latest drivers from the Nvidia website or from www.guru3d.comHope this helps.Allcott
August 18, 200421 yr Good point AllcottI' m using T14200 here- the latest drivers are the 61.xx range and also 62.20(which I'm using- work well)and recently appeared on 3D Guru 65.62 (haven't tried them)If installing new drivers be sure to completely remove the old ones first(Use Driver Cleaner -or similar)Dave
