Who made many of the WOAI models?

Recommended Posts

I'd like to update the textures of my WOAI models to match current airlines. Now with AA changing liveries I'm getting tired of my AI models stuck in circa 2008. What I need to know for example is who made these models so I can exchange a NW repaint for a Delta repaint so my A320's look current. I'm taking the easy way on this one and basically switching the NWA livery for Delta and changing the call sign. Delta in most cases flies the same routes with the same equipment NWA did. I'm not too concerned with realistic Delta routes at this point versus seeing accurate paints at airports. Same goes for Continental. I'd like to update those paints to United.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give. When I get home I'll look at the Aircraft.cfg files to see if that sheds some light. If many of these models are Project AI models then I'm in business.

Run the WoAI installer in Expert Mode and you can see the models that were installed with any given package.

Obviously, that will not reflect any changes made after the package was installed.

just look in your aircraft files. The aircraft.cfg file and the texture names will give the clues you need

Thanks all, I did and it's surprising how many liveries for models have never been done. There's no way to get Delta paints for the A320 series, DC9, and Saab aircraft. I've surprised after all this time all planes haven't been covered at least for Delta. United/Continental I can more so understand. It's like PAI, AI Aardvark, AIMalcontent, and DJC have all went under.

Hi Dillon

I just finished updating all my AI about 4 months ago and found every repaint that I was after.

Which Delta repaints can't you find?

I believe you've just hooked me up!!! Is there anything similar out there for United/Continental?

When I had WOAI I just pasted new textures found on i.e. Avsim over the old ones, this can normally only be done if the models are the same i.e. DJC 320-200 CFM.

If the new textures are not named for example CFM then you have to change the model name in the aircraft cfg for the relevant airline.

After the change check the an airport (preferable the hub ) to see if it is in order.

I can't win with this one. My NWA Airbuses for WOAI are by EvolveAI which is not on the list and has no Delta repaints. My DC9 series (Aardvark) doesn't have Delta repaints either... FSPainter which I thought was a larger group of painters has no SAAB Delta paints to speak of. :fool:

I hear you... Yes, the frustration/enjoyment of AI. After the topic "Huge FPS Increase" and the missing alpha thread, I got motivated to fix all AI textures to a more stringent standard. I've never used WOAI packages and always created my own AI traffic ensuring every texture was converted to DXT format with alpha, so I wasn't concerned about the missing alpha issue. What I was concerned about was the night alpha channel and mip-maps. I noticed that many of my AI cabin/logo/landing lights were not correct at night, but I just lived with it because it's a huge job to fix. So four months ago, understand my only goal was to to fix all my night alpha textures and add mip-maps. When I got to the FSPainter models and started mip-mapping those textures, I ran into a blurry texture issue. I soon realized that any AI model that uses two or more texture files to cover the model, and if mip-mapped, would cause blurry images when viewed within FS2004. It was at this point that I decided to scrap all my older models (FSpainter, PAI) and upgrade my entire fleet to newer models that only contained a single texture for the body, and a single night texture. So want turned out to be a texture fix only, turned into a major overhaul. I started with one airline, replacing older models (FSPainter, PAI) with newer ones. I then updated some liveries fixing all my night alpha textures and mip-mapped my entire fleet. Where am I going with this? You're running into a problem by using old models such as FSPainter or PAI. I understand some WOAI packages use older models, but painters no longer paint FSPainter models. If you want the latest liveries, you must use the current models, which may mean, you'll have to re-do your AI yourself.

I will offer one tip about EvolveAI and DJC models. For the Airbuses, you can use DJC textures on Evolve models and vise versa. You just have to rename the texture for the appropriate model. So if your still use Evolve models, download a DJC texture and rename the texture from "DJC_A320_CFM_T.bmp" to "EvolveAI_A320_CFM_t.bmp". Do the same for the night texture.

I scraped all my PAI and FSPainter models and currently use the TFS saab and AIG DC-9's

As for the night alpha's, I made sure every night texture had window/logo lights at night and landing light splash only when the landing lights turn on as seen here:

Fantastic tip. Now I at least have my A320 fleet with the updated livery. I wish I could get more but this was a great tip. Thanks... :good:
