August 19, 200421 yr Hi fellas I downloaded the Air Canada and Westjet schedules from Project-AI and installed them. Both work fine except for two very annoying features: 1. Neither of them actually land; they just show up at the gates[not very realistic]. There are lots of gates and they all have the proper airline code, as does each aircraft,in its aircraft config file. All the aircraft I've scheduled myself work fine, so it's not that I'm doing it incorrectly. 2. ATC only calls out "Air Canada" when communicating with the air craft; it won't recognize the "Westjet" name. The Westjet name is in the "Airline config" file in the FS9 folder. Its almost as if MS only put a certain number of airlines that ATC will recognize into FS9. I tried to contact Project AI several times but I get no response. If I can't resolve this problem I want to remove their installer pkg. from my computer, but there are no instructions in their user manual, that I can find, that will allow me to do that. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Ken
August 19, 200421 yr Ken,Your right - FS has a given set of airlines that it will recognise. This has nothing to do with PAI.Download EditVoicepack by Lars M Cheers -Lars
August 19, 200421 yr Yes, thats right about editvoicepack,Aslo Ken, check that you have the latest FDE's (flight models) for the PAI aircraft. Are you using any add on scenery, sometimes this can cause altitude problems, or runways not aligned properly and can cause the AI aircraft not to land. Please check that the aircraft is ok by using Lee Swordys AFCAD2 tool and checking the AFCAD file for errors.CheersSteve
August 25, 200421 yr Author Do you mean the aircraft are visible at the gate when you load FS up?Or that they appear from nowhere AFTER FS has been running for a while?I've never seen or heard of the latter happening.Have you ever seen one taxi out and take-off?When FS loads, depending on the time of day set in the simulator, aircraft are placed in 2 ways: at a gate at the airport from which they are next scheduled to take off OR at their cruising altitude if they are in mid-flight.Take-offs therefore start to happen right away as the departure time arrives, but aircraft about to land have first to descend from cruising altitude. Therefore, at a busy airport for the first 10 to 20 minutes after starting FS, you will see a stream of aircraft taking-off but none landing. Then the first arrivals will occur. Also, you will tend to see much more activity from short haul planes than long haul, because the long haul aircraft are more likely to be in en route rather than at or near the airport.I suggest you start FS, go to a busy airport where you expect to see the planes in question, leave it running for half an hour or more, then have a look for aircraft landing and taxi-ing to gate.
August 28, 200421 yr I don't have any other AI or AFCAD add-ons other then PAI, and ATC calls out WestJet. All the airlines that I have installed from PAI are recognized by ATC by their name. Maybe try to re-install the PAI WestJet.
August 28, 200421 yr No....no need to re-install. Simply download and install EditVoicePack by following the link above. It installs the callsigns not recognised by FS. You can also create your own callsign and even upload it so that others can use it. Its a nifty little program, and its free.As to the matter of aircraft at the gates, I have found that sometimes, I'll use KSEA as an example, when I pushback from the gate, especially if the gates are really full, an aircraft will just suddenly appear at the gate that I just vacated. So basically, if I change my mind and decide to get towed back to the gate, I can't cause another AI aircraft is now occupying it. This aircraft did not land and taxi in. It simply appeared after I pushed back far enough. Its really no big deal.....doesn't happen quite often, and if you have a good AFCAD file with lots of gates, then it shouldn't happen at all.
August 29, 200421 yr That is an option, but the problem with EditVoicePack is that you have to install Microsoft.net in order for it to work, and then you have to configure it. I have Westjet recognized without having anything else other then PAI, so first I would just click on the Westjet livery again in the PAI installer and see if that works. It takes all of about 30 seconds to do this. If it doesnt work, then try EditVoicePack.
