GPWS Test

Different company options. There are a few other variations also depending on the equipment.

For the "airspeed" prompt. But the "obstacle" call is standard and is usually only heard after a long push of the test button.

Anyway, try enabling the "AIRSPEED LOW" option in the FMC, Setup, Airplane, Equipment menu.

I can't find that option in the NGX 11 pages of equipment options.

Ah, it is there. I have seen it. Maybe the display options? Then next menu down?

Alright thanks. I knew it was probably somewhere in the Ngx

Yep it's there, I found it under displays on the PFD page, I had it on already but I have never heard the GPWS call out for it.

As all of you can see with the amount of options available for selection in the NGX options menu, aviation isn't as standardized and programmatic as you think.

I have a feeling it'll blow some minds here, but even the US ATC facilities use different equipment. Some towers have radar feeds, some don't; some radar facilities use STARS, others use ARTS, or C-ARTS, or ARTS-III, or ARTS-II, or ARTS-IIIe; some en route facilities use HOST, some use ERAM (in various implementations).

Planes are like cars. Some have the Bluetooth and CD players with MP3 capability. Others are still stuck with a cassette deck...
