Just got the MD-11 have some questions

Featured Replies

So Just Bought the MD 11 and i am happy with it although it is not like the NGX

I will make this short as much as i can

First question any tips or tricks that will help me with this Bird ?? i will be flying online

Second i have been looking at a few MD 11 YouTube tutorials and i cant figure it out how these guys flip through the panel view so fast like they do ?? i am still using the basic FSX ( A ) and the ( S ) and the F9 key ,, witch short cut keys do you guys use when in VC or 2D panel ???

Third i have been flying the NGX and i have got use to leave the Aircraft running and setup my FMC and off i go ,, if i would Like to do the same thing with the MD , will this be the option for the short on ground ???

For seting up the Fule do i have to go through the Load Manager to load my Fuel and then send to FSx every time i choose to Fly ???

thank you

I highly recommend the manuals that come with the MD-11, they are really very helpful. It covers topics like how to use the load manager, and how you can also use the FMC to load fuel within FSX without the load manager.

As for changing views in the cockpit, some people like to use a program called EZdok EZCA which is a payware utility that makes adding and changing custom camera views a breeze, or there is also OpusFSX which is a weather program but it also has custom camera views that are also easy to use.

PMDG's support website has a handy guide with tips for Boeing guys making the transition to the MD-11:

As Molleh said, read through the manual, but if that's too much info to absorb, at least fly the tutorial flight. I printed the tutorial pdf out and followed it step by step which is very thorough. After I flew the tutorial, I went onto youtube and picked up some more knowledge. EZDOK or OPUS makes it easy to switch camera views. With EZDOK I never use the 2D panels. You can load up a cold and dark state if you wish through the FMC once the initialization process is done or just simply leave your engines running to start programming the FMC for flight.

You can use the load manager for fuel or you can hit ALT to bring up the menu bar to select PMDG fuel to adjust your levels. It's an awesome bird!

Hehehehehe, he said lift my pin. You're welcome. Pinlifter is railroad slang for uncoupling freight car couplers.
