February 8, 201313 yr I have several airport addons that have put files in the default FSX scenery folder, but I also have many that don't do this. So why have airport files been put in the default scenery folder and not in the addon folder? Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
February 8, 201313 yr Commercial Member They are likely field elevation adjustments, having them in Scenery\World\Scenery has something to do with the order in which everything loads. Not sure what happens if you put them somewhere else, ADE puts elevation adjustments there by default though so there must be a good reason. Jim
February 8, 201313 yr I hate when I see developers make change in fsx scenery folder, usually avoid to use such sceneries. My opinion is thats a good way to mess up your FSX. I am a strong advocate of making manual and/or custom options part of any installer. Current standards are rude. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

How does the developer win? It's easy enough to revert to default if you ever need to by renaming your Flight sim X folder and reinstalling the sim. That will create a new Flight Sim X folder that contains a completely virgin install which you can move onto a USB hard drive or something. Rename your original FSX directory back to it's original name and you have a backup to restore default files from. Worst case scenario, you delete everything out of Scenery\World\Scenery and copy everything back from the backup drive. Presto, you're back to default. Jim
February 8, 201313 yr While the "stub files" need to be read before any of the numbered folders, ie 0003, 1618, etc, having them in the \S\W\s folder makes it difficult to turn them off, is so desired. I place any elevation changes into a separate folder and move that folder way down in the Scenery Library. This way I can turn things off and on without hunting through many files stashed away into a default folder.
