August 24, 200421 yr Matt Fox has uploaded to the Avsim library high-quality sectional and terminal area charts in .jpg format for the entirety of Alaska. Having given a couple of the charts a good once-over, it appears he has done a rather good job of aligning the north and south halves of each chart into one chart that looks quite good at close zooms; I recommend their quality.Matt, thanks a ton for making digital copies of these charts available to our community in such high quality!Folks, after you've downloaded these sectionals, download some Alaska mesh, grab one of these charts and fly VFR with real weather sometime. Careful, don't let the serenity and beauty of this mountainous, weather-swept country lull you into ignoring the often harsh realities you find when you venture into the bush...Happy flying,Kevin
August 24, 200421 yr Great find! These will come in very handy! I use the ones from the lower 48 states all the time for flight planning. I can't wait to do the same in Alaska. Thanks again to Matt Fox for providing them! ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

August 24, 200421 yr yeee-haaaaw! :-lollooked there but i stopped at the conclusion from your second post :)
August 25, 200421 yr Glad to hear everyone likes them. Yes I got them from the aviationtoolbox website. All I did was use a GIS program to line up the north and south halves, remove the overlap, and save them as highly compressed JPGs.I'd have given credit to the aviation toolbox website, but as far as I can tell it's just a file server of some sort.Matt
August 25, 200421 yr There's an article in this month's issue of Computer Pilot about flightsimming in Alaska. I finally broke down and started my subscription. Haven't recieved it yet but it should make a good companion with those charts.
September 6, 200421 yr Thanks to Matt for these - and for anyone interested, you can view all of Matt's sectionals and TACs in the sim using my FSX-ionals addon (link to v2 in my sig). It's some simple html that works with the kneeboard (and is compatible with all modified kneeboards such as VPN) or with Hifi's free FSBrowser. FSBrowser in undocked mode allows for resizing the browser window allowing the viewing of a large area of each sectional! Here's a screenie:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/90365.jpgThanks again, Matt!sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
