Hi all, it's looking like PMDG has no intentions of further developing the JS41, and no weather radar will be available for it after all. With that in mind, I'd like to see how hard it would be to replace the image inside the current dead screen with something more interesting. An INOP sticker for example. Does anyone know how to replace the image in the weather radar screen with a custom one created in photoshop?

There is a provision for Wx500 Weather Radar from Reality XP as far as I know. Take a look for panel.cfg files, they are ready for "replacement". I do not know, it it will be possible to replace the texture, but definitely someone wuould chime in and provide some more details about modifying the cockpit.

PMDG states this quite a few times, there is no possibility in FSX to accurately model weather radar, because it will show clouds, not H2O in the atmosphere, making weather radar unusable.

As Bartender said, if you buy RealityXP's WX500 it will automatically appear in the J41. And people have made Captain Sim's weather radar work in the J41 too, I believe it is fairly simple.

I have the Captain Sim installed in the VC. The captain sim guage comes in two parts, the screen and the bezel. This is good because PMDG was kind enough to punch a hole on the VC to allow for a guage to go there. You can put the CS screen where the existing weather radar screen is. You will also have to have a popup window guage that has both the screen and bezel, which CS will install for you, in order to control the radar.
