Is there a replacement night sky background available somewhere? The galaxy arm painting looks really bad sometimes. I have Active Sky 2012 and it replaces some textures but not this.

Have you considered AutoStar X (freeware)? No experience personally but it's supposed to be quite good...

I have it, used it for many years. One of the most have addons! But it adds stars, not change the background. Thanks for the link but I only want a different background, I don't want to get rid of the milky way completely as you can see it on many clear nights. I just want a better version of the sky background.

Believe what you may be looking for is a Shader modification program.

Replacement textures are in the lib, and you should try those before killing the universe!.
