So who should be responsible for a fix to this?

I once lived in the "west county" area of St. Louis and flew frequently as a passenger in and out of Lambert Field (KSTL) , stemming back to the days when TWA moved it's original "hub" from Kansas City to St. Louis. I also had KSTL as my home base when I was active in the original virtual airline, SunAIr Express, formed in 1991 using subLogic's Flight Assignment: ATP. So despite relocating from the St. Louis area some 30 years ago I have maintained an attachment of sorts to the history laden Lambert.

Another historic landmark in St Louis is Lindberg Boulevard, which encompasses the immediate St Louis metro from almost the Mississippi River at the SE part of the metro area up and around to almost the Mississippi River above the NE part of the metro area, forming a long C shaped arc as it travels a distance of nearly 32 miles.

As Runway 11/29 was added to Lambert Field (KSTL) in St. Louis, Missouri, the heavily traveled Lindberg Blvd was rerouted with a big lazy "S" loop to better accomodate the project, and created as a tunnel under the partially elevated new runway. Construction began in 2001 and was completed in early 2006. According to one site I found with a history of Lambert Field the new runway was dedicated in April of 2006. This was after the practical release of FSX, so the new runway 11/29 was not included in the scenery.

A freeware scenery add-on by Rhett Browning added the new runway in 2008 and provided a handful of other improvements to the airport. Since then I added the Newport St. Louis scenery and just this week replaced the Rhett Browning add-on with the Taxi2Gate scenery of KSTL. I also have UTX installed. UTX provides many enhancements to FSX, including roads such as were once included in a previous product, USA Roads.

An issue I have faced back to the time I first added Rhett Browning's 11/29 scenery enhancement is that there is a steady stream of surface vehicle traffic flowing back and forth across the new runway. I brought this to the attention of Scenery Solutions/UTX about a year ago just after I transitioned from FS9 to FSX, In the document file for the most recent UTX update 1.6 they mention that this was pointed out to them but claimed they could not recreate it, so they did not attempt to address the issue. I believe I got an email some months back where they suggested I contact the source for the scenery or Newport in regard to their St Louis city scenery.

I have now replaced the Browning scenery with the Taxi2Gate scenery and the issue persists. See first image below. This non-airport surface traffic is obviously Lindberg Blvd. The second image is a top-down screen shot from FSX. You can clearly see Lindberg Blvd and that it tunnels under the runway. But look hard and you can also see the surface vehicle traffic crossing the runway in this shot as well. The third image below is a Google Earth shot of the same area verifying what you can see in the top-down FSX shot. (you can also see remnant portions of the original Lindberg Blvd. that have not been removed)

My question is this. Who should be responsible for correcting this anomaly? The streets and roads and I believe even surface traffic is provided by UTX. In the top down FSX screen shot it is obvious that Lindberg Blvd correctly tunnels under the runway, so Taxi2Gate obviously identified that Lindberg is a tunnel. But the traffic stays on top. So whose issue is this?

Non airport vehicle traffic flowing across the runway 11/29.

Here in the FSX screen shot you can see that Lindberg enters a tunnel under the runway from upper right to lower left. You can also see the vehicle traffic on top and also see that it is following the path of the re-routed boulevard.

This third image is from Google Earth, which clearly shows the re-routed boulevard and that it tunnels under the runway.

I'm not completely sure about this, maybe because I don't have any of the mentioned addons, but I believe that it's an issue the developer of the airport scenery (Taxi2Gate?) has to fix.

Does it still occur if you remove the UTX scenery?

Who do you believe should address this?

While I could write a good deal about your question, I'll instead say that sometimes the quickest fix is to do it yourself. It took me about three minutes to make a file that should fix things. If you want to PM me an email address I will zip the file up and send it to you to test. It *should* only effect Lindberg Blvd. right where it crosses/goes underneath the runway.
