Ok just a Fast question please ,, So i am flying on Line and i am Looking and i can see there is No ATC at Mt Arrival airport so i decide to set up for the runway and every thing els , as i get closer Boom ATC is up and running and wont let me land on the RWY that i have chosen although it is the right RWY for the wind conditions ,,, any way so now i am lost i dont know how to adjust putting in my new RWY in the MCDo and it wont let me delete any thing on my route

I keep getting a Message says Not allowed

Can some of you online Pilots please explain how will you do this if you had my situation

How can i adjust my new RWY in the FMC and still fallow ATC ??

Thank you

Hi fellow MD driver :)

Normal routine is to set your STAR and approach in the last waypoint before your arriving airport. When/if you are directed to a new approach just click into the last waypoint again, chose the new assigned rwy, then INSERT and all is good.

Hi - If the wind was indeed good for that runway, and it was quiet at the time traffic wise, there would have been no harm asking politely if you could take that runway for landing. The only reason I can think he would change runways is if the wind was variable and favorable for the preferential runway.

Hello My Friend

So if i just go back and choose the last waypoint again and put in the new APP ,, it will override what is in there,, Correct ??

Ok super thank you so much

Yep, that'll work :)

I always fly with real WX through AS2012, therfore I can use Flightradar24 to check correct rwy in reallife, Vatsim ATC normally use the same. I did this yesterday on EGSS when over Germany on a 8+ hour flight from Kenya.

If I am entering busy airspace, especially if I am arriving an unknown area, and I am unsure what rwy in use I usually put a copy of my FPL in SEC FPL, then set up the secondary FPL with the other runway, and thr corresponding STAR if it is not the same, then, if ATC throws a wobly I enter S-FPL, activate, and boom I am on the new plan.

I tend to use the S-FPL for a route to my alternate but as soon as I know I will not need to divert, I clear the S-FPL and can use it for different rwy if needed.

Very good info thank you so much

I have been doing some extra reading on my own here and there and i also came up with the S-FPL as a back up

i have been doing all my Flying on Line with the MD-11 and because i am so excited i dont want to miss any on line trip so i havent really don any offline ,, my question is as i am Landing i would Like to know when does the Brakes work when the rear wheels touch the ground or when the noise comes down ?? i am doing so far all my landings on Auto land but because i am on Line and i dont want to mess up things i get paranoid and as soon as the aircraft touches the ground i use my brakes manual ,, i would Like to know should i just let the noise wheel touch first then apply Brack or will the aircraft come to a complete stop on it's own since i am on Auto land ???

forgive me if ny question is not in place :)

I'm not 100% certain but my guess would be that as soon as there is a certain amount of weight on the wheels (which the spoilers will give you as soon as they extend fully), then the autobrakes will start to work. Also, as soon as you know the mains are on the ground, that's when you can start deploying your thrust reversers. As soon as you are slowed up to 60 kts, then tap your brakes (manual braking) and that will disengage your autobrakes, and stow your reversers. There's no need to come to a complete stop on the runway. Just get slowed up to about 15 kts and turn off on the next taxiway, get the airplane cleaned up and taxi back to the ramp.

It's hard for me to say anything about the autoland because I've only done one autoland in that airplane, and that was just to see how it's done. Since then I've done all manual approaches and landings from about the outer marker on in to the runway, but I'm presuming the process is the same.

Does that help?

thank you thank you yes this helps a lot ,, Ok i was doing it all wrong and maybe thats why some times i find my self running out of runway :) ,, as soon as the main wheels hit the ground i squeeze and hold on to the brakes and i think by me doing this i am disarming the auto brake right ?? i think i have read this some where on this form ..

Ok so i will do what you say , let every thing do it's own thing then at 60 call out,, tap the breaks

thank you

You're most welcome.

Yes, as soon as you tap the brakes yourself, you will disarm the autobrakes. Just let the airplane brake itself to 60 kts, then hit the brakes yourself. You'll see a Caution Lamp on the glare shield that will tell you the autobrakes are disarmed as soon as you hit the brakes yourself.

ok thank you i will be looking for it ,, what gets me is the Noise takes a Little to long to hit the ground so i Panic

and i press and hold the brakes my self :)

thats what i do because i get scared :)

<LOL> I know the feeling! The longer it takes that nosewheel to touch down, the shorter that runway gets ^_^ . Actually, I may have been mistaken about one thing - it might be the autobrakes don't engage until the nosewheel has a certain amount of weight on it. It's never a good idea to have the nosewheel come down too hard or you can break something. You CAN however, get the thrust reversers going as soon as the main gear touches. Those are what slow you up the most initially, so they will have a lot of effect once they spool up. By that time your nose will be on the ground and the brakes will take effect. The MD-11 can do nicely on an 8000 ft runway unless it's right at gross (then you may want 9,000), but I've had it on a 7500 foot runway when not too heavy and it does fine there. Just keep your weight down if you're going to do that. However, while it often looks like you're going to run out of room in a hurry, generally unless you're on a really short runway, patience is the key. It will get stopped ok.

Good luck and enjoy. It's a really good airplane once you get to know it, and it sounds like that's what your doing. Good for you  .

Thank you

And yes i am falling in love with it and i am very very happy with the MD-11 , i am still learning and i know there is alot more to learn , but it is one of these aircraft's that you can depend on .

Yes, I read the post, but I wasn't sure what you were referring to regarding the EFB (Electronic Flight Bag?). Are you talking about the departure on one of the tutorial flights, and if so, which one? I can have a look at if for you, but it will be sometime tomorrow or Sunday before I can reply, if that's ok.

Typically though, you would set your first ADF frequency in the FMC and select ADF1 on your MCP, and then do the same for the ADF #2 on the other ADF receiver and MCP. Now I thought the routing was programmed in so you'd just hit NAV after takeoff then engage the autopilot, but maybe it's a vector departure and you have to set the heading for each waypoint until you get past the vectored part of the flight. Anyway, let me know which flight you are referring to and I'll have a look at it ASAP and get back to you.
