March 7, 201313 yr Once you are on a DP-SID within that 30 nm you will NOT get vectors for departure. You will be responsible after leaving the DP range of 30 nm to get to that first waypoint outside of thirty nm. You'll have to be on a heading to that first waypoint after WORMS to cross that waypoint. Use your nav display that shows that waypoint to get to it. I use MCP heading control to assist in turns until it shows me lined up. That gets around bank limitations if turns are tight. Take advantage of the heading to the next waypoint as shown in the RC window status portion. If necessary know how to use a direct-to function on the FMC. Will let everyone know what happens when I try it later this evening. Since WORMS is within 30 nm of KSFB, I guess I'll be responsible for flying to it after T/O and expect vectors from RC from there.
March 8, 201313 yr Author Funny, but I have the AIRAC data, up-to-date, from Navigraph loaded into both FS Commander and the MD-80 FMS, and neither show a SID for Sanford, nor any STARs for Lehigh Valley. So I'm not entering the SFB4 SID in the computer, just Direct WORMS. But when I get to DUMMR and attempt to enter KABE as the next point, and even if I do not choose any transition, and choose ILS13, I'm routed from DUMMR through ETX and several other fixes before being sent to the approach to KABE 13. I have figured out how to do the Direct To trick in the FMS. Now I just have to program something that RC will work with. I'll try to post the route that the MD-80 FMS created. This is fun! I think I'll apply to Allegiant for a job as first officer when I finally get this stuff down pat! B) -= Gary Barth =-
March 8, 201313 yr Here is the only current published departure for KSFP: No STAR is published for Allentown. The DP is vector only to the desired waypoint. In your plan, CRG is shown and that is the only one common to the DP and probably AIRAC for that direction. In other words, waypoints before that were filed by the airline and would be cleared by ATC at their discretion. The DP does not show any waypoints prior to that so they might not be in the AIRAC in the FMC not the database in your planner. It is 94 nm to CRG. KABE transition is IAP so runway dependent (no STAR). I looked at ILS 06 and the IAF is JISTO. If DUMMR is for another runway as IAF or just a transition you would get vectors to it. It appears the airline filed DUMMR as the transition point (32 nm from KABE) on an airway so RC ATC would break away for vectors just before that to intercept the selected runway or you if you want to fly your IAP in RC without vectors then you would have to add the IAF for that runway to the plan sent to RC and request an IAP navigating on your own. I added JISTO after DUMMR. DUMMR to JISTO is 92 degrees and JISTO out is 63 degrees appropriate for runway 06. Of course in this case That would have to be the assigned runway by ATC but I put it in their as an example. Normally your plan could stop at DUMMR the transition off of the airway and ATC vectors to the assigned runway. Here is an idea of what the route to DUMMR and then direct to the IAF of 06 looks like as an example:
