February 28, 201313 yr Hey there, just a quick question but I`ve noticed on an aircraft types icao, after the aircraft type theres some sort of letter (generally Q, F, L) etc etc. What do those letters at the end stand for or mean? Thanks! Joe Barton
February 28, 201313 yr There you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equipment_codes Manfred Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
February 28, 201313 yr They indicate what the aircraft is able to do in terms of navigational performance. Scroll to the bottom of this link for what each letter/code means: http://www.vatsim.net/prc/prc-genlession/choosing-equipment-code/ "If you can't solve and equation with calculus, you're not using enough calculus" - A wise friend
February 28, 201313 yr Also (I think your question was answered, but there is another possibility), it can mean its configuration. One example is the 747-400F where the "F" is Freighter. The 737-200C can be a Combi model, which means it's configured to take freight, passengers, or both (pallets up front, passengers in back). There is a QC which means Quick Change and the 737-700 has been modded to be cargo or passenger and can be converted to either in a fairly short period of time, thus the QC designation. I flew a 185 on floats once that we designated the C185F_OMGWSA, but this was a colloquial designation given to it because the floats on it were in really bad shape - too many rocks and nails sticking out of docks. Oh, sorry, the F_OMGWSA stood for Floats_Oh_My_God_We're_Sinking_Again!!! :shok: Anyway, other than the 185 designator, hopefully that helps
