Fred/Dreamfoil is certainly one clever guy, take a look at this new Smart Menu proof of concept.

 

 

 

It kind of reminds me of the PMDG on-the-fly switching of avionics etc in the NGX. I remember my eyeballs falling out of their sockets when I first saw that directly from the FMC.

Yes me too. On x-plane.org Fred said his Smart Menu software can be used for windows, mac and linux, so maybe we'll see it get licensed out to other third party add-on companies.
