March 2, 201313 yr I know that at high elevation airports, the mixture control must be leaner or else the engine-or engines will run too rich and quit. No matter where I put the mixture control, the engine in my C210 and C421 quits on the ground unless I keep the idle up quite abit. Even if I set them to auto mixture in the FS settings they will quit. Been a FS9 user since day one and have no idea how to fix this one. Any ideas out there? Paul
March 3, 201313 yr Higher altitude = less dense air -> higher fuel/ratio than sea level -> you engine is 'coughing' with fuel. Do not use auto-mixture Pull the Fuel mixture control out halfway and then try again, then 'play' with the mixture control, you will find the point where engine maintains idle, At least in the default Cessna the trick works. Edit: I didn't read the initial post entirely si I explained what you already said. I have no idea why is this happening.... See if this happens in the default Cessna.
