Uuugggghhhh...Strobe Lights Flashing Way 2 Fast....

Featured Replies

I just spent, well almost 20 hours, re-installing FS2004 after some major dunno what issues.. Gave and went for the re-install...Any how, pretty much back in the sky..But the strobes and beacon are flashing really fast...I am afraid if a passenger looks out the window they might have a siezure...(just kiddin)...Plz help, how can I fix the fast flash!!!

Well, guess no one else has had this problem.. Thanks for reading my post..Got it fixed!!!

what was it? and how did you fix it?i notice that on my pooter all the strobe light flash in unison, is this my vid card? or what?ciao!Brian S

Ciao!

search for this file in the library here at avsimasynchronous_strobes_effects.zipit will change the AIs strobe effects to random, it is AWESOME, a must have

Hey 737flyboy....how did you fix the strobes?Im asking because I fly FS2000 and my strobes flash too *slow*...I wanna speed em up!Maybe I can apply the same method you used!

Greetings, I finally had to re-install FS2004 and start all over again.. Yup thats right, "3's the charm" ... Now you say, why did you that? Well, I re-searched, asked, looked all over the net, made phone calls etc..and finally got frustrated...So it was either a re-stall of my favorite past time, or throw my computer out the window. (Good reason to get a new one huh? Oh wait, its New!!! LOL )The only thing I can figure if your strobes are slow, its your vid card and you have low frame rates....Maybe just too much maxed out, unless you have a high end computer, then all should work ok...Sorry, I could not help more there...Just FYI about asynchronous_strobes_effects.zip, it is awesome, and works great, but after I installed, which I thought would help, it didn't...But your right BIG AL, it is awesome.. Now if we could only get wig-wag (alternating) landing lights like on some planes...Well time to make my better half mad, gotta go fly.. Got a new love she is called "ACTIVE SKY"!!!! Its pretty crappy weather here in PHX, so gotta she how well ACTIVE SKY is... Happy flying all!!! "The sky is never the limit, the only limit is you" - me

>asynchronous_strobes_effects.zip>>it will change the AIs strobe effects to random, it is>AWESOME, a must haveI have installed this utility and love it but after a few minutes they gradualy go back to a unison blink. Are you seeing this too?McFly

Come on! asynchronous_strobes_effects.zip isn't all that...But in case you haven't downloaded it yet, link is in my sig ;).To lend some info here:The effect files that generate strobes are called fx_strobe.fx fx_strobeh.fx and also fx_beaconb.fx fx_beaconh.fxEach is a text file - edit it in notepad or similar. The parameters which control the rate of the blink is in each emitter.X section, and is controlled by "rate" and somewhat by "delay". The two numbers represent a minimum and a maximum for each and define a range within which a random value is generated. You can experiment a little here, and increase or decrease that window to suit your personal preference.Best,sg

Scott Gridley in person!Scott, did you notice my post that the lights (on my puter at least) don't stay asynchronous. After a few minutes they begin to beat in unison. If you hit the "l" key again they are fine for a while longer. How can this be resolved?BTW your little alteration is a must. Thank you.Terry

>Scott, did you notice my post that the lights>(on my puter at least) don't stay asynchronous.Yeah, I just kind of glossed over that because I have absolutely no idea why that's the case...sorry :-bigangelAfter a that few minutes of asynchronisity, the lights resynch, and then never asynch again unless you hit 'I'? All planes or just the user planes? All user planes or just some? Some addon aircraft don't use the effects for strobes, they have their lights built into the model - maybe that's what you're seeing.?Best,sg

Hey Scott thanks for the reply. All the AI planes are unaffected. Upon closer inspection, the malady seems to have some connection to changing views. I fly mostly the PMDG 737NG but also the Aerodesign A318 and some Kittyhawk 737's. The sync happens when going from VC (and on occasion from 2d) to outside view. In the PMDG if I don't load up the VC, the asynchronous lights seem fine. The Kittyhawk with the Skydeck panel has no VC so I don't know what's happening here to cause the problem. At first I thought it was just re-syncing over time but now see that there is a reset happening some how and next time you look at an outside view the lights are re-synced. Do these 3rd party airplanes have their own strobe files?Terry

>Do these 3rd party airplanes have their own strobe files? As I understand it, lights can either be built directly into the model or added to the model as an effect. Further, some addons have their own strobe light effects.I bet the PMDG has it's own effects, but I have no idea about the others...I have the PMDG, so I'll poke around there and report back!Best,sg
