March 6, 201313 yr But I think RWFeldman is trying to say that the configs, tweaks, etc may be part of the problem. Better to start fresh. Don't save reg info ever on a reinstall. I know it's a pain, but it's much better to reinstall and let the new installations make their own registration entries. I'm in a similar boat. I tried to move my OS disk to a new computer so I didn't have to reinstall Win7 and FSX and a lot of other programs. It's mostly working, but there are issues. So, I'm about to reinstall Win7 and ALL my programs and sims. That should take about a week or so! But I'll do it from scratch. Believe me, some of what's in my FSX folders now won't be when I do the new one. A leaner, meaner FSX is coming for me!
March 7, 201313 yr Yeah, I'm not talking about saving anything from previous install. Just the special tweaks that I'm going to want back. I know I have a modified cs4.csv for Radar Contact that contains fixes for missing airlines. I know I have camera views set up for Opus. I know I have button assignments in FSX for my joystick. Plus the normal FSX.cfg tweaks that I've been using for years. Those are all I'm talking about keeping. Everything will be a fresh brand new install. No reg copy, no just copying over scenery or add ons. Fresh install. Just the tweaks like I talk about above will come back. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
March 7, 201313 yr Yeah, but that's tricky. I don't know about the cs4.csv file (but you appear to). Camera views are in the aircraft.cfg files, and what if your problems are related to issues in them? Unlikely, but possible. It's kind of a pain to save all of them individually (particularly if you have as many planes as I do). You can backup your entire simobjects folder and then copy the .cfg's over after the new install. I really wouldn't use your current fsx.cfg tweaks. Save a copy of the .cfg and manually add the tweaks you want once the new install builds a new .cfg. But you appear to be answering your own questions, so I'm not sure what you're wanting. There's no post I know of that lists the locations of all the files of all the possible addons.
