What's the preferred way to flying a back course using autopilot?

 

Today I flew it with LNAV using the FMS.  Since there isn't a REV or BC button on the MCP I assumed this is the only way to do it?

Fly it with integrated approach nav. Set localizer frequency, FRONT course, approaching to FAF press APP button and B/CRS | G/P modes would be armed.

LNAV/VNAV works for operators not equipped with IAN.
