Missions from PMDG

Featured Replies

I was wondering... wouldn't be great to get a small pack of missions (maybe 2 or 3) together with the new upcoming B777?

Similar to tutorials, but with specific targets.. eg: your first mission is to complete 2 short flights, another mission could be a visual approach, cat III landing..etc..

Maybe is a stupid idea, but it's free to share.. :)

Try Angle of Attack

Ok, will have a look

Angle of Attack provides training, not missions.

To the OP, you don't need missions to tell you to do a short flight or a visual approach. You can do that on your own, choosing and planning a flight that you will enjoy bewteen airports you like instead of a flight between two arbitrary airports with an arbitrary route that somebody else chose for you.

Missions are ok for a once or twice play-through, though I'v actually never come across any that were made all that well. It'd be great to have a mission that had the sound/realism of a real flight, but if I'm not mistaken they use the default ATC to some effect? - in which case I'll stick to Vatsim thanks :P

Now if you had a mission where you were Captain with a First Officer that talked you through the FMS programming, and talked to ATC while also manipulating the MCP (and we're talking a PMDG MCP here, not default MSFS, so that might be a factor) with other traffic also on the radio frequency, and TCAS, and out the window... well that would be:

1: amazing, and

2: really lots and lots of work.

and 3: quite possibly not doable in FSX to the level of detail we know and love of PMDG. There's several interactions ATC need to do that default FSX just doesn't do. SID's and STAR's for one.

... and how much do you do for the pilot? Is having a First Officer feasable? Handling the radios? Interfacing with the MCP so that when you are cleared to decend the First officer is selecting altitude in the MCP? Changing radio frequencies? How much will the 'player' do in this scenario? But then if you make the Player do it all, what happens if they miss something? What happens if they enact a clearance that was for other traffic? Will the "First Officer" run checklists? do Flows? What happens if the 'player' doesn't set up the aircraft correctly at the gate? Should the First Officer Set IRS at the gate? How can the mission be interactive with the FMS? Can a Mission Co-Pilot enter SID's and STAR's for the player? IRS position info? V-speeds?

It'd be fun to 'capture' a real world flight and make it happen in a mission, but I suspect the FSX mission system isn't actually capable of it.

... I'd 10000% prefer multi-crew (2 pilots via internet/virtual LAN flying the same plane - Use FSinn to connect to Vatsim (one in stealth mode) and Skype or similar to talk to each other.

Angle of Attack is the closest thing to a well structured mission you will most likely ever get for the PMDG 777

If you consider the flights as missions, and... well, you're not wrong since in RL these training flights are acutally called missions, then yes, they are missions. I just wanted to make it clear that what AoA provides is not a mission pack, with rewards (other than personal reward), points of interest, multicrew or ATC experience (not so far) and etc, since it meay lead people to think so.

BTW, that "nuff sad" thing is hateful and pitiable.

I like the idea of missions. Good thought.

Hahaha I know what AoA does im a subscribed member; no need to split hairs here and there are rewards which come in the satisfaction of completing a safe and realistically completed flight

PS: nuff said is a thing I tend to say in RL conversation like "you know what I mean" or "C'mon" its a speech thing; Nuff sed

I'm sorry about that. English is not my native language. Also, that day was a stessful day for me. I may have misinterpreted that sentece and took it the wrong way.

Anyway, nuff sad .

No worries, meanwhile has anyone tried to enter the AoA repaint contest?
