New View Window Repositioning

Featured Replies

Hey Forum,

How does one, change the default position of the New View Window.

Where is the config file, located and how does one change the size of the window.

Thank you

The 2D cockpit panel view is divided into matrix of 3x3 (nine sections) as follows:

"Specifies the relative position of a panel window to the main window. For example:
position = 7
A number from 0 to 8 (as shown below) designates the position of the panel window. If nothing is specified, 7 is the default.

0 = upper-left corner
1 = upper-middle side
2 = upper-right corner
3 = middle-left side
4 = middle
5 = middle-right side
6 = lower-left corner
7 = lower-middle side
8 = lower-right corner"

All of the variables for position, size, etc., for both 2D and 3D cockpit views are explained in the FS9 SDK (Software Developer's Kit) stored now in the FS9 Utilities Section here as fs9_sdk_tool_pack.zip .

You can expand the doc collection for panel design. What you are looking for starts on Page 9 Section 3.

If you wish to do this on many aircraft you might want to look at the payware utility (about $25 download) FS Panel Studio distributed by flight1.com. Get the download version as it is easier to upgrade. It is a graphical environment that avoids trial and error in placing gauges and panels. The description is here:

FSP can only do limited configuration for 3D virtual cockpits because they are a model as opposed to a 2D layout.

If you are referring to the View Window opened and closed with the brackets-[], I have never seen anywhere that you can change the location and suspect it is hard coded into the sim.

The only two places where this data could be is the fs9.cfg and your saved flights and there is no entries in either of those files for that window.

Joe
