Sweetfx ctd

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had any issues using sweetfx.  Just did a fresh install of FSX with acceleration and once I add sweetfx it crashes on the splash screen.  No other add ons or mods were made at this time.  On my previous install with sp1 and sp2 I had zero issues using sweetfx.  Makes me wonder if it is something to do with acceleration.

I've narrowed the issue down to the sweetfx d3d9.dll file.  If I remove it fsx starts fine.  If I put it back in I get a error message reading fsx could not load all files and to reinstall.  I also noticed my dx10 preview box is now missing.

The hacking or tweaking of the d3d9.dll causes problems within fsx both with the ENB series and now SweetFX. There are several who have SweetFX installed and it is working well for them so you just need to find the right version that works on your system. There should be a SweetFX.ini in the main fsx folder too that should be removed. I think it's the tweaking of the .ini that will give you better results. If your DX10 Preview box is not showing, then you do not have SP2 or Acceleration installed. DX10 is only available for SP2 or Acceleration users.

Best regards,

Jim
