Sudden Crash Issue

Featured Replies

Good day World,

Today I installed GSX from FSDT for my fsx. My fs was running fine last week. I havent made any system changes in the mean time. So here is where the issues start. Basically, When I click on a button in the aircraft, e.g the anti-collision lights on the PMDG737NGX. Every say 1 in 5 clicks, its completly random in terms of which button. It just comes up and happens. I have an issue where it goes to the "are you sure you wish to end FSX" menu with the YES/NO options. It also occasionaly crashes with no error or even "fatal error" message. I have uninstalled GSX and hte issue is still there. I have since reinstalled as I see it doesnt appear to be the issue. Can anyone please help me

1)RUN FSX

2) Commence preflight

3)Completely randon buttons, not all the ones that I press, and its so unexpected. It happens with not just the ngx, all other aircraft also.

4)Crash / menu comes up

Thanks!

James

Hello Shamrock,

No I have not. Is it just adding "HIGHMEMFIX=1" into the that section?

Would that cause the keystroke issue?

Just checked. Yes, It is there

Just checked. Yes, It is there

It should look something like this...

(I have underlined the Highmemfix so you can see it better)

ALLOW_SHADER_30=1

COCKPIT_HIGH_LOD=1

If that doesn't fix your CTD's, then I'm sorry but I cannot help you any further.

Ciarán.

Try going into Computer management and see if it is a .dll that caused a crash, as it can happen

It sounds like the 737NGX was not installed properly.  Did you install the updates to the 737?  I know there were some issues when it was first released and they issued some fixes.  Since this is happening with the 737NGX, I would uninstall it, run a registry cleaner, then reinstall it.  Make sure UserAccessControls are disabled.  If you are having crashes when hitting the menu, then there is a possible fix by placing the Vista version of the uiautomationcore.dll in your main FSX folder.

I know you said you have not had any crashes, but you should also download AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html and run it.  It should show all the crashes since you installed Windows unless you installed a program to delete the .wer folders.  In the Event Viewer, under Custom Views, Administrative Events, it lists all the issues found when you started up your computer today.  There could be another issue that is causing your crashes.

I have seen you problem occur whenever you have too high or too low CPU voltage, the power supply is too low, overheating, memory frequency, timings, and voltage are incorrect, and/or a bad overclock.  You did not list your system specs in your profile so it is hard to determine if your system is overclocked or what your system specs are so I'm just throwing this out.

Best regards,

Jim

Jim,

Thank you for the reply. I have been looking into it today and I have managed to change some settings for hotkeys etc and there are no longer any issues. It is running perfectly. I havent overclocked my PC. I have got a very stable version of FS as all uiautomation.dll is removed and dealt with. I do still have an issue. Its not for the CTD forum but you may know some detail. Since installing GSX, my squawbox is being problematic. It rarely can join the voice server. I no longer get the "ba dum" noise when i switch to a frequency and on 99% of online freq, i cannot recieve anything at all. I am not sure where to go. I dont really want to completely reinstall fsx again.

I see you live in Woodbridge VA. Small world, I was there in early february. I stayed with a friend who attends Gar-Field School.

Thanks,

James Evans

I do not know much about Squawkbox but you might want to look at your dll.xml and make sure the Squawkbox entries are there and not corrupted.  Can't see how GSX could possibly affect Squawkbox.  Your dll.xml may be okay if you installed GSX after Squawkbox as the GSX installer will not install GSX if the dll.xml is found to be corrupt.  Yet, take a look at it.  Squawkbox is not known for corrupting the dll.xml.

Best regards,

Jim
