I am having trouble getting the FO to set takeoff flaps. I load the plane into the 2D panel but after it is loaded I switch to VC. I set the dial a flap to 25 and have flaps 25 set in the FS2Crew window. I wait while it says wait after I select the after start flow. He sets everything but the flaps. I have had it work a couple times but more often than not they don't get set. I have never had it work with anything but flaps 25 but I guess that could be a coincidence. He always correctly retracts the flaps after takeoff and after landing and correctly extends them for landing. The FO doesn't seem to have a problem doing any of the other things he is supposed to do, just setting takeoff flaps.

I went through and checked how FSX assigned some of my controllers by default. There was a button press for the Saitek pedals that was related to flaps even though I don't think there is even any thing that registers as a button press on those. Anyway I have removed every button press assigned to my controllers. I will have to give it a good workout to see if that was my problem. Is FS2Crew just using the F7 key press to extend the flaps or is there some other way it is doing it?

Hi Tom,

It uses a command from the Microsoft SDK to set the flaps.

I don't recall having this issue reported before, so I suspect it's just a config problem somewhere.

Can you bring the flaps down using your keyboard?

You said it worked a couple times before... do you recall what the difference was in terms of the way you did things?

I've tested it twice now once before and once after deleting the button presses to my controllers and it worked both times, once at flaps 25 and once at flaps 22. The one consistent thing I did was adjust my view so I could see the trim indicator and the flap handle at the same time. I didn't do anything from the time I called for the after start flow until everything was set but that's normal for me all the time. I just tried the keyboard and F5 and F8 worked but F7 did not even though it is set for incremental flaps in the controls menu. I'm just going to keep trying it and hopefully it keeps working.

It started working for me again but then I had a problem with extending flaps on approach and then again on my next departure. What I did discover is that TrackIR was using the F7 key for one of its settings. It was possibly stealing of blocking the command for flaps when I pressed F7. I have diabled the TrackIR command so I will see if that makes a difference.
