March 21, 201313 yr This week I decided to buy the F1 Cessna Citation Mustang and I really like this little jet! However, I have a very annoying problem: almost every flight with it ends up with a frozen FSX, which I can only exit using task manager. In task manager, I can clearly see FSX is frozen, because the memory usage of fsx.exe won't change anymore. This is the only aircraft causing problems with FSX. Every other add-on aircraft (both payware and freeware; including the PMDG NGX) runs perfectly in FSX. Besides while flying the Mustang, I never experience crashes and/or freeze-ups. Do you perhaps know what's causing this and how I can resolve the issue? With kind regards, Kevin Schepers
March 22, 201313 yr Are you running Win8 by any chance? I believe that the F1 Mustang has problems with Win8. Go over to the F1 support forum for the Mustang and get details.
March 22, 201313 yr First, even though it's a few years old the Mustang is still one of the most demanding addons. You don't list your system specs, so it's hard to speculate on how you computer might handle the airplane. For me, I tend to have very modest scenery settings when using the Mustang. Second, there are some threads that deal with performance at Flight1's Mustang specific forum. Possibly turning off the right side display in the VC might help? Note registration for the Mustang forum is separate from the general Flight1 forum.
March 22, 201313 yr I had the Mustang on my system for a few months and removed it. it is surely a great sim but not for my system. It seemed a week or so after installing it I started to have increasing issues with it which started to affect my computer more and more. I had issues with the database where once a landing was selectedI couldn't change the landing routine. I also had issues with the sim crashing and then Fsx started to crash. I only had these issues with this sim and none ever returned after it was removed. I have a fairly new Alienware top of the line system so it wasn't a lack of resources issue. Just one of those things. "Why, he just jumped into the air and kept right on going."
March 22, 201313 yr Author Thanks a lot for thinking with me, guys! I get a stable 30 fps (locked) flying the Mustang with most scenery and 20 fps at or near my most demanding add-on sceneries, so system performance isn't a factor. The problem was an option in Aivlasoft's EFB that updates the FSX GPS flight plan when the flight plan in the EFB is edited. I realised that everytime the Mustang froze the simulator, I had been working in the EFB. So, to everybody owning (and flying) both the F1 Cessna Citation Mustang and Aivlasoft's EFB: switch off the 'create Garmin GPS flight plans' option in the DisplayUnit's settings. You can find this setting on the miscellaneous tab. Also, the Mustang doesn't like you using the FSX flight planner in-flight. With kind regards, Kevin Schepers
March 22, 201313 yr Hi, Yes, I have seen the same issue with freezing, while using the Aivlasoft EFB and the F1 Mustang! ..... (I am on Win 7 64 bit), but I don't have any issues loading a FSX Flight Plan in-flight in the Mustang. I always but the EFB / Mustang problem down to memory overload, so it's great to hear that it will work ok with the "create Garmin GPS flight plans" option turned off. I'm off to try in now!
