Graphics Crash in FSX

Featured Replies

I have a strange problem.

I have FSX on Windows 7. I have an almost new rebuilt PC with a Asus GForce GTX660ti new graphics card but I can't seem to overcome a problem I have had for some time.

When I run high graphics aircraft like recently the Airbus X Extended with some extreme scenery I have no problem with frame rates but after a period of time (this varies) I start to lose parts of the grahics. This is often parts of the model of the aircraft like today the first thing I noticed in a long flight was after 3 hours I lost the fin of the aircraft. Sometimes this then develops into losing "layers" of the panel.

Its not like a normal CTD but basically just loss of graphics as if my graphics card can't hold any more memory but it is easily big enough!

I am also running Active Sky along with one of the online ATC interfaces such as Squawbox or Ivap and of course my VA Pirep tool.

I am at a loss to know how to solve this one and would be grateful for some help.

You should download and run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html.  This will tell you if you had a crash or not and provide additional information if there was a crash.  You can also look into your Windows Event Viewer in the Custom Views>Administrative events and it will provide you all the events that recently happened on your computer.

Graphics problems can usually be fixed by installing highmemfix=1 in the Graphics section of your FSX.cfg.  This will take care of most missing textures on aircraft.

Best regards,

Jim
