March 28, 201313 yr Hi. I had same problems few years ago. Never able to find the reason until I switched to W7 64 bit. After that with same scenerys and settings I never again had g3d fault. This time I didn't instal 3gb patch. I still think that 3gb patch is useless because in case of any kind of problems (memory leak or similar) it will only delay a bit OOM message. You can find topic here: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/27597-megaairport-brussels-g3d-dll-error/#entry218374 and here: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=32949 Regards
March 28, 201313 yr That kind of livery problem would not usually cause a CTD (ddl error). The gray appearance is the aircraft models default color which means there is either a aircraft configuration file error such as the texture= name not being the same as the texture folder name or incorrectly named texture(s) inside the texture folder. The quickest way to find these is to determine what type of AI aircraft it is from within FS9, for example you see a parked A320 but it has no texture. Shut down FS9, go to your AI A320 folder, open the airfile with AirEd and make that aircraft viewable. (Aircraft Type=2 to =0), Start FS9 and in the select aircraft menu find the AI A320 and go down the list of liveries viewing each one. You will come across the blank aircraft and by using the livery name ie 'Lufthansa' you will know exactly which aircraft.cfg entry and texture folder is at fault. Once the error is corrected double check in the select aircraft GUI, if fixed reverse the change in AirEd. Regards, Mel Thanks Mel. That's right, it never crashed the sim when the gray aircraft appeared. will comply with your tips, I have never known that. And the Adventure Unlimited, G3D.DLL is caused by some sort of graphic overload. Johnny himself said he wasn't too familiar with the type of crash. I'll report here back if reformatting/reinstalling fixes the crash (By the way - regarding your comment on my heli attempts: Flying the Mi-2 heli is easier than any other heli I tried before (once you managed to start the engines of course) - even easier than the so said "beginners model" Ka-26. I bought both together, but I soon will abandon the Ka-26. Perhaps I will donate it to a colleage which I recently convinced to start flight simming with FS2004!) All the best! Harald I only had weeks of learning rotorhead with default FSX chopters. Taking off and hover are fun and relatively easy, when it comes to land, it is so hard that I hardly succeeded unless 40% of the whole attempts. As soon as I solve this G3D.DLL issue, I am tempted to give it another try with the rotorhead,
March 31, 201313 yr I just completed my 6th Arlanda - Frankfurt flight (5 of them ended with CTD before reformatting and rebuilding fs9) with the scenario above. Having my OS and FS9 reformatted/reinstalled, the G3D.dll didn't occur. Everything is the same with my previous setup where G3D.dll crash occurred except one thing: I didnt patch the fs9.exe with 4GB Switch although I doubt that would make any differences. And I double checked that my Aerosoft Frankfurt is updated with the last version. Despite the disappearance of the ctd, I encountered other issues: the aircraft (maddog 2010) was experiencing sudden stall in a mild turbulence. I know it was mild since the cabin crew were still able to serve drinks/food. And also, it seems that the FMS didnt read the correct ILS freq on 07L, perhaps my outdated navigraph that caused this. But that's another problem. Although the persistent crash has gone, I still haven't spotted the culprit.
April 2, 201313 yr Hi Reason, my respect due to your fast new FS2004 setup. It would have taken me weeks... I hope that your crash-free flying will be sustainable. I wonder what the actual version of EDDF is. In my Aerosoft customer account I can get v. 2.01; the installer is from 2010. I remember that I had massive problems to update it with the fourth runway. Regards, Harald Hi Harald. It should have taken a week or so but I spent my weekend rebuilding everything. Not only FS9 but also FSX, although rebuilding FSX was easier since not much to install, except some FS9 addons which also compatible for both sims. My current Aerosoft Mega Frankfurt is 2.02, If I recall correctly, it was released sometime in November last year? IIf Im not mistaken, it updates North and South Runways. I think you need to go to support to get the latest update. Thanks for Your encouragement. Reformatting and Reinstalling is painful By the way do you patch your FS9.exe with 4GB switch. Because I intentionally didn't patch my FS9.exe and I experienced OOM crash in another complex airport using Maddog. So it is obvious that 4GB switch does make a difference. Im on Windows 7 64, never have I had OOM crashes before. It is also interesting that You mention Georgia and Caucasus on 'My Interest Column'. Did You study them in university?

With any 64 bit operating system (that has enough ram) all that needs to be done is to make the FS9 executable 'large address aware'. With a 32 bit operating system that also has more than 2Gb of ram you need to apply the '3Gb switch' to the boot.ini file of the OS and also make FS9 'large address aware'. Again, I'm sure you have it correct, I'm just clarifying for everyone. Finally, . . . . these techniques DO NOT fix OOM causes. They simply delay the inevitable long enough for a flight to be completed - most of the time. If the cause of a OOM is severe enough it will overwhelm anything you have done and cause a system crash anyway. Regards, Mel
April 2, 201313 yr Hi,I had another look in my file archive, I have updated EDDF to v 2.02 indeed. It's a quite "operational" update. I remember some problems (trees and houses on the fourth runway), but somehow I got a solution to this, although I don't remember it anymore. Strange enough, I never flew there - it's not my favourite airport neither in FS2004 nor in reality (as passenger). I prefer EDDK and EDDT by far.Regarding the 4GB-Patch, I neither patch my FS9.exe nor do I apply the 3GB switch via boot.ini (I have WinXP 32 bit). I tried these both and I got an almost inoperable OS with a terrible slow FS2004. Without 4GB-patch I had exactly one OOM - when testing FS2004 without virtual memory - and then never again. No, it's my little obsession; I read very much about this country, follow their politics and development. It seems that many of us former GDR-citizens are interested in the former USSR-states due our "common" history. In my case, being a 13-year old pupil when GDR ended its life, it may depend on the alpinistic and geographic literature I found in my father's desk. After I had to postpone a vacation there in 2008, I visited Georgia in 2012 and I found that it is a wonderful country regarding landscape, culture and peoples' attitude towards life, and particularly their hospitality, so that I plan another vacation there maybe already this year again, this time with my family (last year's vacation was with friends, including a mountainbike tour crossing the Caucasus and then a 4WD tour, also including an aviators discovery:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/385188-a-nice-task-for-scenery-builders-mestia-georgia/Unfortunately, my pictures are deleted, but ArchStanton's pictures are still there and they are better than mine. I managed to make a basic AFCAD file for UGMS to have some GAF Mi-8 and An-2 there from time to time...).By the way, my profession is completely different, I have a Diploma (kind of Bachelor) in Public Administration and a Master in Disaster Management. I work for the government of my Bundesland Saxony dealing with flood protection.Regards, Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.

When using Windows 7 64 together with at least 4GB RAM, all we need is patch the FS9.exe to address memory allocation more than 2 GB since FS2004 is 32bit-based software. While using 32 bit OS, XP for example, we need to edit certain strings beside patch the FS9.exe. The how to's are all easily found in AVSIM or other flight simulation websites as it has been discussed for years. I guess You're right, I rarely had long haul. My longest flights usually took less than 2.5 hours, 3 hours at most but it was quite rare. Thanks Mel Hi, I had another look in my file archive, I have updated EDDF to v 2.02 indeed. I am not familiar with the airport, even in FS9, same like You, it is not my main route . It is very interesting how the two worlds between Your interests over certain places and FS9 relate to each other. I believe the two interests somewhat enrich the quality of life. We could have started a new topic with long discussions regarding this sir As a flood specialist, don't know if there's such term, You'll find Jakarta is a city with serious flood problems. Flood has been a great issue since 19th century and now the problem grows greater annually. It is not surprising the International Airport's activities are affected by a flooded highway.

We could have started a new topic with long discussions regarding this sir That's right, Sir. That's why I add only two sentences: When I bought FS98 more than 15 years ago, I wanted to fly where I thought I would never travel in real life, and I wanted to fly where I had already travelled in real life. Now both together is my life. By the way, in my studies Jakarta was used as an example for a very endangered metropolis by our Professor, particularly regarding Tsunamis. Now lets see if not applying the 4GB-patch will prevent you from having G3D.dll CTD while bringing you OOMs (back). As I said, I'm no friend of the patch; and I only had OOMs when I brought my PC system into an unstable condition by settings within the OS itself. Good luck! So far, I encountered OOM without 4GB switch, IIRC, I rarely (almost never) had OOM when using 4GB patch. However, I am not saying the 4GB switch fixes oom completely. But, I'll test another flight, this time using 4GB. So far, after a complete reinstall and reformat, G3D.dll is gone.
