March 25, 201313 yr Within the past 6 months I've been getting an aweful lot of weather.dll CTD's. The only weather-related thing to coincide with that is I've had OPUS for about that much time. Additionally... The CTD's seem to occur when paired with the F1 Mustang. March 26, 201313 yr Hi Ryan, I see this is the second time you have posted this question and the second time I have had to move this to this forum. I did a Google search and this happens a lot but I saw no solutions. Since it does not happen to everyone, including me, I would suspect high fsx.cfg, display driver, and/or weather program settings. Copy and save your FSX.cfg (do not delete it or rename it). Now restart FSX and go into FSX settings and click on each tab and click on restore default settings. Now go fly and see if the problem still exists. If it does, then I would open up that same fsx.cfg and comment out (//) all tweaks, except the highmemfix=1 (which should have made SP2/Acceleration but was inadvertently left out). See if that fixes the problem. From what I saw on my Google searches, OPUS is still working on this issue and have not found a solution. I do know I have received some freezes (not CTD's) as a result of too high settings within AS2012. When I closed AS2012, FSX resumed without any problems. I discovered that happened because I wanted a lot of eye-candy and set all my resolutions to 4096 and some to 2048 and had the quality set to 32 bit (HD). When I lowered the resolutions to 1024, the problem went away. I have my Texture_Max_Load set to 4096 and I think that gives me HD clouds without also employing it with AS2012. I think too that some of these CTD's can occur when your weather program is contacting the weather server and trying to update the weather. Maybe a firewall problem or simconnect issue or ever an incompatibility with the browser you are using. You want to be sure you have the latest versions of Microsoft Visual 2005, 2008, and 2010 installed (check add/remove programs) and make sure you have Versions 1.1 through 4.5 of Microsoft.net. The following link provides a verification tool to see if your dotnets are up-to-date - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx. If you get another crash, you might want to download and run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html as it translates the Microsoft crash reports (.wer) and provides a bit more information regarding each event. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! March 26, 201313 yr Author That's probably my issue then. OPUS recommends a very high level of cloud settings, in conjunction with my higher than default LOD settings, with the most complex payware the Mustang... I guess weather.dll is just another way to FSX to tell me settings too high. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
