How to put this short, not to be boring... :)

Mmmmmkay, I often fly A320 with FSPassengers, I'm quite new to Radar Contact, still learning approach comms and stuff. I know that RC depends on a flight plan, and there is a catch - I don't know how to make realistic flight plan! I know that I will need approach plates. But that's not all. So far I was using simple flight plans for flights and default ATC - ILS direct GPS. For Radar Contact, I'm using either high-route or VOR-to-VOR flight plans.
Yesterday I was thinking how I never don't know exactly how my next approach will look like, what runways are in use for landings... so approach plates are important for that? Also, I started using Super Flight Planner, and I don't know how to make a realistic flight plan. What STAR approach to use? How can I know that?

I could conside SimPlatesX if it has info on which STAR approach certain airports use? Also, is there any good tutorial on flight planning and STARs, in Super Flight Planner or any other?

Thanks in advance guys :)

Tried SkyVector few times, but it doesn't have an option to export flight plan to FSX. Also, I don't see any SID&STARs there and which one to add, to make an approach realistic.

FlightAware is great for real routes being flown right now, highly recommended. If you need something to actually generate a good route for you http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ is generally very good and also generates a SID/STAR with them too which helps. Although i don't think it can take into account the weather and doesn't distinguish runways in use so you have to do that manually Sometimes that website also fails to generate a SID to be used so in that case simply google the appropriate chart which connects up with the first waypoint, there is a vast amount more that can be found on the internet and most major airports have full SID/STAR charts available online. :)

If your going to be flying something bigger across for example the atlantic then for authenticity, NAT tracks are updated everyday here - https://pilotweb.nas.faa.gov/common/nat.html and a guide to flying them can be found here - http://www.vatsim-uk.co.uk/oceanic-procedures/

Thank you.

FlightAware does not support Europe, just tried to make a flight plan.

Tried SkyVector few times, but it doesn't have an option to export flight plan to FSX.

Export the routes as FSX / add-on–aircraft compatible flight plans via SimRoutes.

Copy the route to SimRoutes, select the appropriate export format, and download. Then move the downloaded flight plan to the appropriate FSX folder.

google the appropriate chart which connects up with the first waypoint

The same method can be used with the last waypoint of a route and STARs. SID and STAR usage is dynamic, and depends on ATC, equipment compatibility, runway used, weather, etc.
