March 29, 201313 yr I have been watching a few videos, and I am impressed with what I have seen. I have not purchased the program yet, but I noticed in the videos that the co-pilot does a hell of a lot of work for you, as a co-pilot would do in real life. However I (if I get it) I would still like to do some of the task myself, or get to the switch before he does. Strangely enough I do like flying on my own, So I was wondering if you are stuck with FS2Crew once it is installed? Does it behave the same way all the time? Can you also disable it if you feel like flying on your own, and experiment with certain situations? My bigest fear is that whilst it's good to have things done for you, my knowledge of the cockpit might degrade. However I can see the advantages of flying in a busy ATC environment. Best regards and happy easter. Julian, J u l ia n D i a m a n d i s
March 29, 201313 yr It's completely flexible. You just click a button to move the first officer on. So if you want to do the cold and dark start go right ahead and advance the FO to before start procedure etc.
March 29, 201313 yr There is a few things about the FS2Crew work flow that I don't particularly like. Having flown the NGX so many times on my own before FS2Crew for the NGX was able to be made, I had developed a few extra things to the checklists that I liked to have done. For example, I do not care too much for the FS2Crew FO messing with the display screens so much. I dont like which CDU screen he sets for his side, I dont like how he is always messing about with the lower center DU, I like to have the hydraulic information up for all of preflight and then switch over to that extra engine info for take off up to about 12,000 MSL. I dont like leaving the outboard landing lights deployed and on as long as he does, I don't like him having the seat belt sign on Auto, I never want it on Auto during climb or descent. But, it is easy enough to just override him and get things done the way you want them. One thing to know about FS2Crew, is that while it is always there after you install it, as it is loaded up when you load up the NGX, it doesn't actually activate until you tell it to. The full way of doing things is you click on the standby artificial horizon, you pull up the config screen and then you press a button to start the preflight flows, at which point the FO will come alive and start flipping switches and talking and all that fun stuff. You can do as froogle suggested and ignore the pre-flight stuff and move your FO into a position further down the workflow, and then trigger that moment by calling for the appropriate checklist to get that part going. But until you do either of those two things, your FO will not do a darn thing for you. Well, he might listen to your commands for things...I am not sure, but it comes with a hard mute that will prevent it from listening at all. I think you can even kick off the voice recognition module as well and there is no chance FS2Crew will pick up on anything at all. But I tell you, having that FO there during take off and landing really is a nice thing to have. Especially with the HUD. I can just be sitting in my predefined HUD position in EZDok and not move, and when ATC throws something at me, and can call it out and the FO will change the MCP for me, and I can continue flying the FD all the way up to time to put it on command A. Just to add, FS2Crew is really worth it. I own it for several different planes, both the old button version and the new voice command ones, and they just add so much. The voice versions are really something, I cant recommend FS2Crew enough. March 29, 201313 yr Author Thank you for the replys. I think this has swang it for me. I think the voice recognition aspects look great. I noticed on the website there are 2 versions, which is the best version to get? Jools J u l ia n D i a m a n d i s
March 30, 201313 yr Fs2crew is very easy to use. It can do like the real F/O does, you could skip a checklist to do it yourself. if you don't want it permanently, just a click of a button disables it do it is very flexible. comes with different accents too! Also, Just get the cheaper one, they both are pretty similar. Also get Emergency NGX if you really wanna have fun! i7 3770K OC @ 4.4ghz, Asus Z77 Motherboard, Windows 7 Premium, 16G DDR3 Ram, Corsair H 80 Water Cooling
March 30, 201313 yr I noticed on the website there are 2 versions, which is the best version to get? when you purchase the ngx fscrew2 you get the button and voice option so you can select either when you start the fscrew2 ngx start panel. One version contains the audio version which is a program that tell you what things do in the cockpit suppose its abit like aoa in a similar way of sorts. But if you already being flying the ngx than it probably not worth it so just go for the bundle set. The ngx emergency package is an expansion package for those who have the ngx fscrew2 already installed. March 30, 201313 yr Author It's reaaly great FS2Crew. I got through a flight ok for a first attempt. I did have a couple of problems. Possibly because I missed a commard out. But on the taxi out I couldn't get LNAV and VNAV to arm. The generators FDs where all on. So I'm not sure what happened. I shouted TAKE OFF and did my take off roll, there were no call outs from the FO. Eventually he did press LNAV.Then in mid air, the ground guy shouted to me. So something got out of sequence there. I was quite impressed with the check list, which seemed to work the best. 'Set Altitude 14 Thousand' worked sometimes. Some things seem to be hit and miss. It seems that the quick stages off flight, where a lot is happening is the most difficult to do. IE Take off and landing. J u l ia n D i a m a n d i s
March 31, 201313 yr Read the manual a few times till you get the hang of it, once you done a few flights everything will fall in place took me awhile to get everything sorted out, check out some of the youtubes out there might help you in some areas or if you still got problems post your issues in the fscrew2 area Byran will certainly sort your out promptly as he always does.
