April 2, 201313 yr While I am aware that some of you find it important to be able to start P3D as you did with FSX, or even better using a well know app, I myself like the way P3D starts - using always a default situation. One of the reasons I like it is probably the fact that I am an ELITE user, and in that sim that is the way I have always started my flights. OTOH even in FSX I used that same method and even disabled preload, because just as most of you know some sophisticated aircraft should be started using a cold & dark CESSNA start situation. In P3D I have set it to start with the default Piper Cub, engine out. Then I decide: 1) Where to go should I prefer not to start from that position; 2) At what time / date 3) With which aircraft This is simple and clean, and so far has granted me smooth starts with no surprises even when using more complex aircraft modules. April 2, 201313 yr Good points Jose. I also save my latest favourite plane and scenery combo as a default, saving even more time. The far quicker loading times of aircraft and scenery offset any possible inconvenience of not having the fsx style menu Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
April 2, 201313 yr Commercial Member jcomm - sounds like you prefer doing the setup of a flight on the backend rather than the frontend sort of speak. It's not so much I prefer the FSX method (I thought their setup was cumbersome in some ways), it's that I am not a big fan of having to make choice, re-load, make another choice, reload, etc. I would prefer to make all those choices in one swoop and load one time. Doesn't SimLauncher allow you to start whatever aircraft you want cold & dark? Curious, if you had the option of a P3D launcher that allowed you to start your default flight immediately, bypassing a launch and setup screen would that satisfy your need? You would then have the option to turn that off and start the next session in a set up screen mode. April 2, 201313 yr Author Clutch, I didn't get SimLauncher, so I can't tell, but I know of a few users who really prefer to use it. It's just because I do not really mind the reloads, after having used ELITE for so many years :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
