Can't see objects in FSX

Featured Replies

Hey guys!
I'm testing some scenery creation for FSX and I created the models, textured them and added them in ADE, but for some reason when I compile and place the files inside their respective folders and adding them to the library.

At first I could see the objects and no texture files.

Now I don't even see the object whatsoever.

I've been going crazy since I can't figure out what might be happening that my objects are not visible.

Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!

This is what is happening:

I conveted objects to mdl then created library file of all mdl files.
Then i attached library file in ade. and started to put object from my new created library.
I put textures in texture folder and compiled airport file in scenery folder.
and put library file also in scenery folder.

after putting objects and compiling airport.
i fly fsx after choosing my airport.
nothing happens.

Compare your sim Scenery Complexity setting with the object properties in ADE.

How did you convert your .mdl files? MCX?

What happens if you drop your object library into MCX?

If you added the models directly to ADE then you also need to ensure that all the textures are placed in the texture folder that is alongside the scenery folder you put the Bgl files in.

Also if you have ADE set to create separate Airport and Scenery Bgl files then you need to ensure that the _OBJ.bgl file is in the same folder as the main airport Bgl file

Finally as already mentioned make sure to set both ADE and FS scenery complexity to Extremey Dense while testing - this will ensure that all objects get a chance to be displayed in both ADE and FS.

Hey Jon I just wanted to ask a quick question and also say a big thank you for SBuilder-X and all the years you have helped all of us scenery builders...

Lets say I have 3 photo scenery bgls in one Scenery folder... One is a large low-res image of say 5 miles around the airport... The next image is a medium-res photo bgl say 1 mile around the airport, and then the 3rd bgl would be a close up high-res image of just the terminal area of maybe 1/4 mile in area...

Would I be making FSX work harder by having these 3 image bgl's in the same Scenery directory all loading one on top of another as they seem to be doing...?

Normally I would assign the higher-res bgl's to a higher layer within FSX Scenery Library but I was curious how FSX handles the same airport area to be covered by low, medium, and high-res imagery...?

When I pass over the airport it seems the low res bgl get painted fast and first, then the medium seems to appear, and last the high res bgl's paints nice and sharp and it all happens over a couple seconds...

Actually I created the low-res scenery a year ago, then 6 months ago I came back and did a higher res bgl of the smaller center area nearer the airport...  Now this week I did a really close up high-res bgl of the terminal area, jetways, and aprons which look great, but I just threw them all together in the same Scenery directory to see how they would load...

On a similar thought could the lower-res image bgls be re-created from their respective bmp's and tiff's with say the center airport area cut out like we do with a lake or blends so their lower-res airport area will not be generated and only the high-res image bgl would be painted...?

Sorry if these seem to be such crazy questions but I've wanted to just ask how FSX would handle it and if it could be putting a hit on fps...

Thanks,
bnick

Thanks for your kind words but I must own up that I am not the developer of SBuilder - that is Luis Sa.

My small offering is ADE.

As to the questions - I think they relate to SBX and this is not my area of speciality. Hopefully someone here with better knowldge than I will be able to help

Jon...  This was one of those embarrassing times in life and about 30 minutes after I had posted to you regarding SBuilder it hit me as I laid in bed that SBuilder was Luis's and yours was ADE...  So sorry I had way too many hours doing my photo scenery for 3 days running and was simply tired when I wrote you...  At my age I can laugh at these things a bit more than when I was young, ha...  While I have your attention I have to really thank you too for your great ADE... It has been a pleasure to use all these years and this latest version has been especially fine for my needs...

Thanks...
