Missing AC in Create a Flight

Featured Replies

I've been away from FS for a few years and thought I'd get back in.  I have a new Dell XPS (i7-3770) running Win 8 (64bit).  I thought I'd start back with FS9 as I was familiar with this system.  I installed FS9 on a SSD and everything seems to work OK, except that when I go to Create a Flight, the Airplane display box is black.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

My aircraft display box stays black until all of the textures are loaded, sometimes up to five minutes.  Listen to your computer and see if you hear your HDD working.  Anything longer than five minutes may mean there's a problem and you can determine that by going into the Task Manager and see if FS9 is still running or has stopped working.  There's also a program on the Internet called Process Monitor/Explorer (separate programs) that you can download and run while fs9 is running - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb795533.aspx .  It will show you what is loading when the display screen is black.  If it's FS9 textures, then you 'll have to wait.

Best regards,

Jim
