April 5, 201313 yr Morning, I'm thinking of building a new rig with the I3770K cpu but I'm not too sure about the mobo I should purchased..I don't want to spend a lot..with a new house and new baby I can't really go all out in regards to the mobo.
April 5, 201313 yr Pick an I5 3570K then. Are you in the States? http://www.microcenter.com/site/brands/intel-processor-bundles.aspx $235 for a CPU + mobo bundle if you have a MC nearby it's a no brainer
April 5, 201313 yr No i'm in Canada therefore I can't :( benefit from this great deal. What else do you have already? Before we can recommend a mobo we need to know what case (form factor, important), psu and GPU you'll be matching it with, assuming you already purchased those
April 5, 201313 yr What is the exact amount that you want to spend? It is hard to get a solid mobo for under 110. Ryan L.
April 6, 201313 yr Unless you *really* do need hyperthreading I'd also suggest getting a 3570K and spending the difference on a decent motherboard.
April 8, 201313 yr Author I already have an old rig that I barely used in the past year XFX Radeon 5870 1GB PS CMPSU-850TX 850W POWER I also have the ACL vintage liquid cooling I want to keep my video card and power supply for the time being I don't want to spend more than $500
April 8, 201313 yr Check these CPU+mobo combos. Make sure you don't pick an H77 board. Z77 is what you want for OCing http://www.newegg.ca/Special/Combo.aspx?SubCategory=0&Brand=0&SaveCompare=0&SaveAmount=0&kwd=3570k&listType=Combo&action=search&SortField=0&PageSize=10&Page=2
April 8, 201313 yr Motherboard http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128544 $149.99 CPU http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 $226.99 Cooler http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065 $31.44 RAM http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233196 $58.00 Total = $466.42 /Edit: Included cooler as not sure if your existing kit will fit Socket 1155 boards.
April 12, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the info but I have one last question..my pc will be mostly to fly on fsx therefore I was wondering should I go with win xp 64 bit or win 7..I heard about a lot of CTD issues
April 12, 201313 yr Windows 7 64 bit without doubt, Microsoft cease support for XP in less than a year after which I have no doubt it will be open season on XP machines for malware of all sorts. I don't know what CTD issues you are referring to but I've found Win7 to be pretty solid.
