April 8, 201313 yr Is their any way to reduce the closest point of approach in radar contact for waypoints? it seems that my autopilot wants to start turns early and as a result doesn't pass close enough to the waypoint for radar contact to validate the waypoint. This leads to the ATC going balistic and directing me back to the missed waypoint. It seems at the moment I have to pass within 1 mile of the way point. Is there a way to increase this distance? cheers allio
April 8, 201313 yr Perhaps you would be better advised to post this question in the Radar Contact forum here located under the heading Commercial Support Forums?
April 8, 201313 yr I'll answer directly: During the departure (30 nm) and approach phase you have a 2 nm radius from the checkpoint. Enroute is 5 nm radius. There are no adjustments on waypoint accuracy for credit but you can go to the extended menu (9) and look for Direct Checkpoint which lets you go from your present position to one you choose from the list. In addition to gain some flexibility for departure and arrival look in the rcv4 manual for NOTAMS and IAP. Regarding aircraft on coupled autopilot they will start the turn early to avoid overshooting the outside turn limits of the intersecting legs. Some larger aircraft have an adjustable bank limiter typically 15 degrees for a large passenger airliner. For a constant bank limitation, the higher the IAS and degree of heading change required the earlier the turn starts. http://forums1.avsim.net/forum/135-radar-contact-forum/ is the dedicated RC support/discussion forum.
